Why isn't he doing it?

In ODIs we held record of successful chases. Not great but not useless As coach he;s delivered an ICC trophy which was long awaited

Dravid's hands were forced by selectors... https://www.wionews.com/sports/ajit-agarkar-put-his-foot-down-for-inclusion-of-jurel-padikkal-in-test-squad-reports-700073 https://www.firstpost.com/firstcricket/sports-news/india-vs-england-test-series-rahul-dravid-quotes-ajit-agarkar-13747125.html Dravid didn't ask for Jurel and Agarkar and selectors pushed for him. Dravid's lack of foresight is apparent where he backed SKY in Tests ahead of Sarfaraz, KS Bharat ahead of Jurel, and SKY in ODIs ahead of Jaiswal or Rinku. Check out Rinku's stats & performances in List A and FC cricket and it's clear he has the performances and temperament to be successful in ODIs compared to SKY. I've yet to see one meaningful difference made by Dravid, be it backing the right player, or making any strategic difference. The only thing I remember him for is backing useless players like KS Bharath and Avesh Khan, backing wrong players for the formats (SKY in Tests & ODIs), and for messing up the WC 2023 final due to his "genius" plan for the pitch. He was so afraid of making tough decisions and going away from "tried and tested" seniors that he didn't even give likes of Jaiswal and Rinku a game in ODIs. And Sarfaraz who was averaging around 100 across 3 seasons in Ranji had to wait for SKY to fail to get his chance. Sorry, but Dravid was absolutely useless as a coach and I'm glad he's gone. Ofcourse everybody is involved in a decision and Dravid will give others credit. Thats his nature. But prove only Dravid selected Bharat can you? No one is selected without stamp of coach and captain. Selector can't 'force' them. The WC final pitch played same as it did v Pak. Again you are making wild assumptions. Prove pitch was rigged on call of Dravid of you wanna make these allegations. We have been mixing formats far before Dravid took over. Jadeja wasn't selected by Dravid in T20. Rahane played WT20 too based on Test performance. Similarly SKY was given chance in other formats once he established himself in the team. He scored ton too in series before WC. Seniors policy is again from before his time and we still don't see Jaiswal and Rinku in ODIs. What's stopping Gambhir? Only reason they play in T20s because is because seniors retired by themselves. Why is even Sarfaras warming the bench after doing well in Eng series in Tests? Dravid era dropped Saha,Ishant and other seniors and introduced Jaiswal, Akashdeep etc. In T20 the way we used Axar in WT20 was clearly his footprint. We also approached high risk batting approach under him in white ball which benefited us.
Zero_Unit Posted October 13, 2024 Posted October 13, 2024 Because people in India (and Indians around the world) thinks they can bat better than God himself and can do a better job than Dravid. Lord 1

Why did we need to prepare such sh*t pitches against them? Maybe you can also explain why we consistently favored spinning tracks against Oz even in WC, even though our batting & bowling were both superior overall

Still hold him accountable for the WC 2023 fiasco. We had the best team and the best bowling attack. All we needed was a typical Indian pitch and we would've won. First the guy messed up in backing SKY for ODIs when he averages close to 30 in List A, and then tries to play pitch curator with the pitch and making the match toss dependent. raki05 1

Kaif clearly said in one of HT articles that how him along with Sharma got afraid of aussies fast attack and tamper with the pitch where they dint allow curators to water it for a week. If you are that naive who thinks that home team don’t use pitch to their advantage and needs evidence for it than nothing more to say.. problem is dravid acted oversmart and overestimated aussises attack and screwed up the pitch. Its the same ahmedabad pitch where Gill scored double 100 soon before wc against nz , so saying pitch behaved true to its nature is wrong. India’s batting inspite of slection holler was better than other teams and almost all batters clicked till final also Indian bowlers were on another level. Have we scored around 300 we would have great opportunity but pitch was screwed so badly that we limited to below par score. Suhaan, Ultimate_Game and Adamant 1 2

Adamant Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 He gets a lot of respect amongst casual fans and even the cricketing fraternity. He was and is a selfless man who was one of our best match winners in test cricket. A bunch of frustrated low iq ICFers don’t make much of a difference. Lord 1
