From my perspective ie Indian citizen with my interest and passion for India, I feel nothing but glad Trump came to power. If it was not for trump the viel wouldn't have lifted on Western alliance and role based order nonsense.

Fact is this world has been carrying white man's burden. Today if a Carney is able to bluntly admit, that's because of Trump. All it took is little bit of pressure and they squealed. We have been squealing for years but no one listened.

I am 100% clear on this. My sole interest is my nation. And this breaking of so called world order will work better than what was before.

Not You.

Anybody who voted for him and supported him use the following above as an excuse.

Anyone who voted/supported him knew that he was capable of worst things and still went along with him. Especially many in this forum.

Most ppl are just stupid, granted not a great sample selection.

I wonder if eu india fta will trigger trump.

Expect volatility.

I think UK Canada are tilting towards China. EU US will tilt to India. Very little volatility on this front.

lol this guy Carney needs to be careful.

The USMCA is due soon. His country still has 70 exports to USA. And 1/3rd of Canada’s GDP is exports. Not surprising as that’s where trade usually flows for simple goods driven exports - the neighboring countries.

Yeah they tried to diversify. But that has reduced the 72-74 (to US) to like 68-70. Good luck reducing that.

US can literally cause a massive gdp shock to Canada. Be pragmatic the way Germany is right now.

The base case for many people and something which is also the best scenario for the markets is that there will be more compromises (even more than current?!) by Greenland without the need for any military intervention and without any significant trade n flow escalation.

So the base case happened. I’m sure most short term tactical momentum strategies booked their profits.

It’s honestly laughable that there’s talk of dumping usd treasury and migrating to something else. Anyways best strategy globally is to just make sure your country doesn’t do anything stupid over this transient period. Try to ignore the noise.

India ‘stopped’ buying oil from Russia, claims U.S. Treasury Secretary

“India started buying Russian oil after the (Ukraine) conflict began, but President Trump put a 25% tariff on them, and India has geared down and has stopped buying Russian oil,” says Mr. Bessent

India had described the U.S. action as “unfair, unjustified and unreasonable” while maintaining that its energy policy is guided by its own national interest.

A Bill introduced by Senator Lindsey Graham has proposed a 500% tariff on secondary purchase and reselling of Russian oil. The proposal has near-unanimous backing in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

Bro canada is so small as a population. It's close to Delhi. It won't be hard for them to diversify. They have to sustain a very small populace.

It’s not about the population but it’s more about what exactly they export and the logistics. Like I said good luck doing that.

Good revised GDP numbers. This has given more leeway n fuel to the AI trade - basically reduced the dependence to imminent rate cuts. Caused some flow outside fixed income today coz of that.
So now what matters is the fundamentals - whether the hyper scalers can meet their expectations.

Pvt players are susceptible to sanctions, as they have to protect their interests. So they might pull themselves back.

USMCA expires in 2036.  Canada doesn't need to bend the knee to any economic pressures because he’ll be dead before it ends, anything they do will hurt Americans more in the short term. America can’t survive a decade under this administration anyways, they’ll lose reserve currency status and be screwed internationally.. just a matter of time, the world’s just letting them sort it out on their own first.

Isn’t the renewal / review in July of this year? It can definitely be canceled or updated significantly.
