Fans allowed on the ground during lunch at Test match in NZ

Recommended Posts

Shows cricket is still amateur sports, ppl just come if free and fr a small picnics.

Are fans also allowed on the pitch in rugby matches ?? Are there grass banks in rugby matches??

No one knows want needs to be done to make it more popular and professional sports. T20 has helped to bring some interest in general public and league cricket is bringing in some money too.

But sports as a whole ......??????

Want such provisions at Indian Stadiums also, play Cricket with you friends on the ground while players take the Lunch Break.

Also need one dedicated Grass Banks only stadium , no stands to experience Cricket in same way.

if done, half the guys would first be seen relieving on the digital advertising board at boundaries, before entering playing area.

Can't do that unfortunately. Our people have terrible civic sense.

Ground will look like this in 20 minutes

India mein aise karenge to pura stadium pitch pe chad jayega... you'll have to lathi charge the crowd post lunch session to push everyone away from the pitch and the match will be delayed by another hour or so. Plus stumps will go missing. A few geniuses may also pee on the wkt. UP mein to  pitch ka color laal ho jayega, and you'll suddenly get a Day 5 pitch right after lunch on Day 1 :giggle:

Aur agar police hateygi to patharbaazi shuru ho jayegi.

You can get such arrangement in NE....less crowd and greenery all over.

Any other place, and the weather will convert green grass into brown in no time. Watering will also be a challenge.

Also NZ is one of the richest nations on the planet.  Kaha compare kar rahe ho.

Maybe in 2060.

Our people have zero civic sense, they'll spit gutka all over the field, some may even look to take a dump or pee, scratch their names on the pitch like they do in ASI protected monuments all across the country. Hope NZ doesn't repeat this when India tours, uncivilized people don't deserve such leeway.

Among South Asians I think only Lankans will behave like civilized people in such instances, civic sense isn't alien there.  Look at Colombo and compare its cleanliness to all our metros.

Poorer countries in Asia and Africa have better cleanliness/sanitation standards, talking from experience. Even in England, Canada, Malaysia, Singapore, Indian majority areas look like a different world and not in a good way.

I have more faith in India becoming developed by 2060 than us matching sub Saharan countries' civic sense by then.

I love my country and am also optimistic about its future, but this is one flaw I can never see us rectifying. Just being realistic, sorry if it offends anybody here.

The pic I posted is from Diljit Dosanjh's concert in a stadium in Delhi. The tickets were quite costly so we can assume it was mostly rich, educated and younger people there. Still they left the place littered with such mess. Poor civic sense is something that is more or less common across all layers of society.

Not unique to India. When we go to large events here in the US (e.g., college sports), it's the same thing. Drinks. Popcorn. Nachos. You name it. Trashed all over the place. No concern for cleaning staff whatsoever.

Truer words have not been spoken. For a country that has had such strong influence on global history, why would they struggle with basic civic sense like this?

It's a good case study actually.
