Texan Posted January 16, 2025 Posted January 16, 2025 Some of them that I see are: Rinku Singh - Avg: 54 Dhruv Shorey - Avg: 50 Ankit Bawne - Avg: 51 Why did Shorey never get a chance or wasn't even talked about? I am sure there are many others. Do name them. tweaker and Manucrick 1 1
Texan Posted January 16, 2025 Author Posted January 16, 2025 Shorey's 100 in Ranji Final few years ago:
singhvivek141 Posted January 17, 2025 Posted January 17, 2025 Baba Indrajith : 52 Better player than his sibling who got more limelight despite being poor. Akshay Wadkar : 50 Ayush Badoni : 54 tweaker and raki05 1 1
Gollum Posted January 17, 2025 Posted January 17, 2025 Guys like Indrajith, Badoni, Easwaran, Rinku have been piling on runs for so many seasons now. But nowhere close to getting a cap. Some of those guys don't even play IPL. Injustice that Rohit, Kohli have jobs for life despite zero returns. Even Dravid handed out test debuts to SKY, Patidar based on their IPL numbers.....both mediocre in FC. Ultimate_Game, tapandrun, raki05 and 6 others 1 1 7

BacktoCricaddict Posted January 17, 2025 Posted January 17, 2025 I look for both averages and SR. Yes, SR is not necessarily important in red-ball cricket, but it serves as a measure of dominance in domestics. If someone in tuk-tuking their way to a 50 avg against mostly sub-par attacks on easy pitches, it says nothing. But if someone is thoroughly dominating - scoring a lot of runs at a high SR - then they are likely to be successful against international attacks. This is where I would rate the likes of Rinku, Jaiswal, Jurel and Sarfaraz above guys like Bawne. Not a perfect rule, of course. tweaker and Ultimate_Game 2
Strangering Posted January 17, 2025 Posted January 17, 2025 Their PR teams weren't good enough. Thats the right answer
Strangering Posted January 17, 2025 Posted January 17, 2025 MRF ZLX isn't paying off Gambhir and Agarkar for these players. That is another right answer. Ultimate_Game 1

Advice to parents don't get a good coach for your child, invest in PR This has been a fact for at least 10 years. It was a phenomena successfully used by Dhoni first. Kohli took it to new heights. Before, top players had management agencies to handle advertisements and sponsors. Players still had to work hard and execute. Ultimate_Game Posted January 18, 2025 Posted January 18, 2025 Rinku deserves a shot in Tests and ODIs based on his stellar domestic record. But he doesn't play for the "right" region/team, nor does he have bigshots supporting him. Likes of Patidar, SKY, KS Bharath made their debuts despite not being anywhere close to Rinku's domestic record. Alas he may never get a chance singhvivek141, Manucrick and tweaker 3

jf1gp_1 Posted January 18, 2025 Posted January 18, 2025 There was this kid Uday Saharan in U19 team. Skill was okay but what temperament, Dhoni like and at such a young age. I see he is yet to even play FC. Ultimate_Game 1

Sean Bradley Posted January 18, 2025 Posted January 18, 2025 (edited) Very nice thread OP The loses to NZ and australia and snub from Test Championship has opened a can of worms. I am glad that so many loop holes in the system have been exposed and talked about by our fellow ICFers. Keep it going guys! Edited January 18, 2025 by Sean Bradley rollingstoned 1

MI, RCB and CSK players are the ones who get fast tracked. Or you need to have enough political support from your region such as Sanju Samson.
