vvvslaxman
Something is amiss. Just doesn't have the energy through to the crease. Ya he did clock over 140k. But he is far better than what we saw today. Link to comment
deepdynamo
Slowly getting back to groove, I am overall happy that he got overs under his belt. He is still our best ODI bowler, even better than Bumrah. Edited Sunday at 05:22 PM by deepdynamo Manucrick 1 Link to comment
cowboysfan
cant take much from this match, pitch was a road and there was no movement.England are dummies, they watched Abhishek play proper shots with a straight bat and decided that wasnt for them. tapandrun 1 Link to comment

WIll he be able to sustain in a 10 over spell. Link to comment

Need to look past him,no point continuing with him going forward Atbest till CT, beyond that they should not be risking making plans around him Use that time in grooming someone like Harshit Need4Speed, express bowling, tapandrun and 2 others 5 Link to comment
Ultimate_Game
Should be saved for Tests. That's where we need him the most. Harshit should be played in shorter formats. Link to comment

BUt i don't think he will be ready. Tests is where he should come back. He should skip CT alongwith Bumrah. We can go with Harshit, Arshdeep.Ansul Kamboj or some other new guy. Link to comment

First class
Probably has past his peak. For a fast bowler to remain at his peak at 34, he has to be super fit , which Shami is not. If he can maintain his pace around 140, he will be still at at his best, almost , but if dropped to less than 135, that will make a big difference in his performance. Link to comment
Need4Speed
he is still bowling with strapped knee..so he nowhere normal.. Lets look past him.. Link to comment

Yea.. it is pointless to play him. I am not even sure he will ever get to back to his old. 10 overs a lot of overs to bowl. India has a lot of fast bowlers they can experiment with. Shami is an incredibly dedicated cricketer. New players like Akash Deep should show such dedication. Need4Speed 1 Link to comment
Sooda
It would have made more sense for him to bowl longer spells for Bengal in Ranji rather than the four over bursts in a format he isn't that good in. And he could have made the ODI squad in better rhythm singhvivek141 and express bowling 2 Link to comment
Texan
I don't see any point in him playing T20s and ODIs. He should have been reserved for Tests. To better evaluate his fitness, he should have played a Ranji match. He is clearly not fully there. We should have rather taken a fit Harshit or Akash Deep to CT. Link to comment
Chamsi
He must be the best bowler there is in ODI for India, but if a bowler can’t make match saving attempts at the boundary and catching, no matter his reputation he should not be playing over younger, hungrier fast bowler Harshit Rana, may man’s bowling with a strapped knee like others have said. How will he make nonchalant attempts on the field in key situations? Edited Monday at 06:05 AM by Chamsi Link to comment
singhvivek141
Absolutely not. There is no doubt on his ability, doubt was on his match fitness which can't be guessed in a 4 over match. Would have liked to play one Ranji game and could have played directly to the ODI series instead. Link to comment

He should have definitely played Ranji but with the aim of him being in better shape for the ODI series Vs England. I still think there's a place in ODIs for him- for one last tournament - and fit Shami in CT makes a world of difference Edited Monday at 06:13 AM by Sooda Link to comment
Sean Bradley
Shami is done and dusted, we must move on from him. Perhaps he should look at mentoring role now. Link to comment
