ODI's are easiest format at this moment, thats why you see so many 50+ averaging batters across teams. The use of 2 new ball, lack of reverse swing and fielding restrictions till 40 overs have made the life easier for the batters. But cut to Tests or even T20's, and you can see the difference. Gill, Rohit, Kohli, Iyer, KL all struggle there. Jaiswal has passed the tough time with ease, now it's the time to build upon it. He may fumble in the process, but as long as he is honest with himself we have a gem in hands. No one says Abhishek will take the team ahead, coz he has his own limitations. Maybe can work in ODI's but he will be inconsistent. If someone to be compared with Saim I think it's Abhishek. think u misread/understood or the statement was not clear, yes jaiswal has great potential and all that mentioned about him are correct. but my point was how ppl can have their hope rested on some1 who are really new to intnl cricket and have few games for an icc event when their superstars who have been playing for years can not do that, it was not against jaiswal. was questing if some1 who was not in plans few months back is suddenly the match winner. read in some post that pak's chances are gone because saim is ruled-out, saim may not have played 10 odi and he is the one who was going to it, then what are other have been doing for years? Point was not to keep newer players out but why the load/expectations of winning an icc event is not on the superstarts. Never tried to compare or suggested to compare jaiswal ,saim and abhishek. they all are different abhishek will be playing only t20is format for some time , saim has already played all 3 format he is a better prospect to pak team than any1 in recent times, is he a modern day player not sure, but he is better than who ever are playing for pak he has shots , his t20is sr is 137 which is dated per current standards and that too is because of his recent success and form. yes including these player may or may not strengthen the team but load bearing part had to be done by those superstars Edited February 22, 2025 by tapandrun

Just to add to what you mentioned, when likes of Gill, Babar, Kohli and any half decent batter can average 50 or higher these days, Jaiswal is bound to do the same and at a much higher SR. And the hope is he'll show up in bigger matches unlike our seniors who've rarely done so. Edited February 23, 2025 by Ultimate_Game singhvivek141 1

Abhishek has already exposed that in T20s. I am sensing a shift in this IPL as well where Abhishek, Tilak, Jaiswal might overtake Kohli, KL, Rohit in terms of impact on the public. Surely, the latter 3 might make more runs and probably the match hypes from PR will continue to supersede. But in terms of overall performance, the former 3 will dictate the IPL going forward. Unfortunately the Indian public doesn't worship actual performances, they worship the hype. Which is why dhoni still gets the biggest cheer even when he plays 1 or 2 balls per game. Kohli has the same hype and worship from Indian audience

CSK mgmt does that just to ensure people atleast show interest in their games. They tried to hype Gaekwad as well but nothing worked. Same with RCB, they can't look beyond Kohli & hence no one is seen as next star there. MI atleast has SKY, Pandya & Tilak to pull in some crowd. New guy and raki05 1 1

He did manage to dismiss Pandya with a short ball but that was a lucky dismissal with a faint touch on the ball. Afridi didn't even retaliate with short stuff against Gill. There's a pattern with him. We needed to survive the powerplay, that's it. All our batsmen are capable of getting a hold of him, even Iyer is enough. Probably the most overrated and overfeared bowler in world cricket right now.

No batter fears any bowler these days, any1 and evey1 goes for run. Is Shaheen is overrated --yes, highly overrated , but not amongst batters but fans and ppl who are nt up to date to what is happening in cricket and have memories of him from 2019-2020 season. Even in his prime he was not a test bowler. Even then he was 1 trick pony in his prime but he was bowling yorkers at 145+ kmph which is hard to dig out frm a LA action. And once he got injured and his pace dipped his deliveries were not that fast and lost the dip due to lack of air speed. And he has not added any new skill till now, only recently he added some kind of slow bowling. He keeps bowling same length which does not work any more or is not that highly effective. He still is a tall LA fast which still has some kind of advantage in t20s. The ball he bowled to rohit was ~145 kmph if he can be back to same pace then again he will be again same bowler, but still remain one trick pony. His mind set is v.much like shahid afridi not sure if he is trying to emulate him or something, shaheesn only tries to bowl yorker and missing it most of the time and ending up in full tosses same as shahid who just tried to slog and hit 6 out of stadium without thinking of situtation of ball or bowler.
