Austin 3:!6 Posted February 11, 2025 Posted February 11, 2025 (edited) The last time we faced in Dubai, he ran through our top order. I know we have faced him plenty of times after that game and our openers have dealt with him well but there is still that lingering feeling. Also he seems to be back in form and bowling with good pace. What strategy should our openers Rohit & Gill adopt against him while facing the new ball? Edited February 14, 2025 by Austin 3:!6

Keep open stance to counter the inswing deliveries. Shaheen don't have many skills under his repertoire. If his inswingers are negated and smashed, he will start bowling filth outside of off. Also, Pakistani pacers have poor fitness and they run out of steam by 3rd or 4th over. If Shaheen is smashed it will put a lot of pressure on Nasim Shah which given his pathetic fitness can be a boon for us. Haris is anyway useless with new ball. Gill facing will be like admitting we are scared of Afridi. Drop KL of course. Austin 3:!6 1
singhvivek141 Posted February 11, 2025 Posted February 11, 2025 For me key thing is how our pacers stack up, Shami is half fit...Arshdeep can go for runs while Harshit is new.

We must play him tomorrow in the 3rd ODI against England. If they want to give more time to KL, maybe play him instead of Shreyas.

Zero_Unit Posted February 11, 2025 Posted February 11, 2025 You've got Bumrah to practice with on the nets ... And y'all afraid of Afridi?
Ultimate_Game Posted February 11, 2025 Posted February 11, 2025 Go with the following team and we'll be fine... Let Jaiswal go after him. Likes of Kohli and Rahul are dragging the team down. Kick them out and we win easily. Rohit (c) Jaiswal Gill Pant (wk) Iyer Axar Pandya Jadeja Harshit Bumrah/Shami Kuldeep/Varun C

cowboysfan Posted February 11, 2025 Posted February 11, 2025 no doubt we have a weakness against left arm pacers especially Kohli and Rohit but i they lose to this **** pakistan team then they can stay in Dubai,i hear they have no income tax.
tapandrun Posted February 11, 2025 Posted February 11, 2025 Current Shahaen is not the shaheen of 2019, he has lost a lot of pace, his deliveries does not dip that much. If Ind openers does not mess it up themsleves they just need to negotiate just 2 over from him where he pushes v.hard and touches 140s and then his speeds goes 130skmph. Would say its Ind batters who have to get themselves out then him getting wkt. singhvivek141 and express bowling 2

If our batsmen can face him during net practice, afridi is a lite version of him. Also, Afridi lost his mojo a while back, he isnt the bowler he used to be back in the days.
