Gollum Posted February 22, 2025 Posted February 22, 2025 Tbh, every aira gaira Aussie lifts his game in ICC events. Wade and Stoinis of all people engineered a miraculous win from a dead lost position against poyzzz in UAE T20 WC SF. Faulkner won them the 2015 WC (including POTM in the final) and then disappeared. 2003 WC, Warne out, so what? A new guy called Hogg entered the picture and Warne's absence wasn't felt once. Also a journeyman like Bichel giving 2 ATG ODI performances against NZ/Eng. 2007 WC, Bracken-Tait became Akram-Holding and matched McGrath in output. If you see the names of the Aussie guys who won the 1987 WC and compare them to the WI, Pak, Ind, Eng legends of the 80s, you will get the shock of your life, most of those Aussie players you may not have heard of or remember now. tapandrun and Vk1 1 1

Their system manufacture champions. Even not so called great Aussie team has won 1 WTC, 1 wt20, 2 WC in the span of 8 years only. Edited February 22, 2025 by Bigg Brother Gollum and tapandrun 2

Aus players have uncanny habit of lifting their game to nxt levels in icc events that makes them though team. wc-2023 they were losing in the start saw some memes too. but towards business end they just become something else. even in t20i wc 2024 had rhoit not played that knock and head would not have got out they could have been in the finals too.

For India it was almost a dead rubber and Aus needed a big win IIRC. Anyway Aussies don't care about WT20, have won only one fluke WT20 which is way below their ability tapandrun 1

All 3 their top pacers are v.comventiaonal and only recently cummins and hazelwood have acquired those t20 or white-ball bowling skills

They can easily play a speciailist squad. They have T20 bowlers in BBL tapandrun 1
Chakdephatte Posted February 22, 2025 Posted February 22, 2025 He lifted his game in last two years, Australia is a little late. Anyway, he is 30 and I can't blame Australia here. Was great against Indian spinners in one of the T20s I watched, got a debut test century on Sri Lankan soil. Unlike our late bloomer SKY, he looks to have the game for all formats. Also, drop Labuschagne now. His honeymoon is over and he is not useful in shorter formats. Rondu 1

Add Andrew Symonds to the list. In the 2003 WC, the Aussies were in shock losing Warne and were in trouble losing early wickets against Pakistan. Symonds turned the game around with a stunning 140+. He was an underachiever at best till that time. Mitchell Marsh played a few blinders in helping them win the T20 WC recently. Gollum 1

Mediocre T20 batter but that SF knock against poyzzz in 2010 WI. From India, Axar and Dube surprised me in last year's final. Historically Srikkanth and Gambhir overperformed in the biggest stages. Sorry story otherwise and mostly our bowlers have won us big trophies. tapandrun and nevada 1 1
