Tbf he had good conditions in all 3 - Pak had an underpar score, batting first against us & Starc/Faulkner killed the game vs NZ. None of the situations were particularly tough, even the Wahab Spell.

Wahab spell was very good and tough to negotiate. Adelaide under lights is never easy to bat against pace. Wahab even got Watson out if not for that dropped catch. Smith blunted him chancelessly.

For the SF, bat first or second a 100 with strike rate over 112 is a great innings. Finch was the dasher in that team and he was stuck for most part but Smith played both Jadeja and Ashwin quite fluently.

Oz had batting till 10 or 11 that WC, that was arguably their best batting lineup ever, especially given it was at home. That puny total was in no way defendable, remember they had a batting(?) PP left as well.

Gambhir deserves alot of blame.  He is extremely stubborn.  Kabhi galti nahi manta apni.

He has kept KL in the side instead of Pant.

I would take Rohit over Smith anyday of week in whiteball cricket.Forget Kohli he is not even in the same zip code.

Third consecitive CT finals for Kohli/Rohit.  Unlike Smith they had no help if they failed.

Getting Team to knockout is also important for any batsman. Smith did not anything in the second world cup win but his team won just shows how well he was supported and how awful Rohit and Kohli were supported .

A proper clutch player ,who stands up when the team requires his services the most ,unlike some PR specialist frauds in our set up !

2 Time WC winner but His 80 odd against England in the losing cause in 2019 remains his best clutch knock tbh when everyone else was falling.

good move, white-ball cricket is moving too fast and player like him have a v.small and specific role these days and that too when the team is a specific situation.

Red ball remains his best format and he is back in form again.

Was in 2011 wc squad as a leg spinner. From there to what he became is stuff of legends. Started with a 92 in the 2nd or 3rd test in the 2014 series where they lost 3-0. Start of jaddu ashwin era.

Apart from the amazing 2015 SF 100, he hammered us in the tri-series before that WC. Then big 100s in 2016 ODI series, and two 60 ball 100s in the 3 match series just before 20-21 BGT. Half his 100s against us.
