Sachin when caught cleaning the seam (deliberate or not, not getting into that), in RSA, the issue went till Parliament. Whole country rallied behind Harbhajan during monkeygate. 

 

Our people never accept blame when they are in the wrong, defensive mentality kicks in and we start doing whataboutery. CA had the balls to ban two of their greatest modern day players for one full year. RSA had the zipper gate with people like Faf, Steyn, Amla, ABDV involved, but even they did not ban their players.

Smith taking the fall for his mates, being away from cricket for one year at his peak (rating 947, just 14 behind Bradman's all time record of 961), and then comeback in 2019 Ashes is what makes his aura so much greater, it was like Muhammad Ali's comeback after 4 years of inactivity.

Still, Smith came forward and took blame since he was captain. Warner and Bancroft were the ones with actual evidence against them. And do you think their 3 quicks and Lyon didn't know what was happening, people who actually bowled a gazillion overs with the tampered balls? It is clear as daylight that Smith took the fall to protect his mates, a noble sacrifice. 

 

Please tag me when an Indian accepts blame for his/her misdeeds, even today all fixers go and cry in interviews about how innocent they are, and milk sympathy......even Pak is better in that regard, many of their fixers have accepted their mistakes publicly, and apologized. Kohli straight up physically bullied a 19 year old Aussie kid and for Indian media, the Aussie was the culprit. Harmanpreet Kaur smashed stumps (keeper almost lost an eye), badmouthed match officials in presentation ceremony in BD, yet not even a rap on her knuckles, Indian jingioists took great pride in her behavior. 

 

Toxic cheating tough guy behavior is not a trait in this Aussie team, especially last 5 years. Indian players are more ill-behaved, abusive, and are praised by their countrymen. Look at Kohli or that wannabe gangster Siraj, the adulation they get for their intimidation tactics. I wish Aussies were actual monsters you make them out to be, because all I see is them and their wives/daughters getting a thousand death/rape threats daily by butthurt Indian fans just because they performed against us, yet they maintain their dignity and calm.

I suppose I am being too harsh. But it's PTSD from decades. Allan Border team's racist acts throwing unnamed liquids on Indian "coolies." Getting away with abusive sledging for decades before other teams stood up to them and gave them a taste of their own medicine. Knocking bails off and appealing for a hit wkt and facing no consequences. And the abuse against Srinath by Ponting - that really sent me to a point of no return.

 

I'll bet if there was no video evidence of Warner and whoever blatantly sandpapering, SS would not have come forward. And most of all, if that was the only transgression, whatever. But there was the ridiculously laughable brainfade before that. Serial.

 

It is sad that Indian fans are hiding behind internet anonymity and abusing Ozzie WAGS. As for Indian players not being held accountable, that is a BCCI issue. And neither of these situations absolves all the appalling Ozzie behavior - with umpires willing to do nothing - for decades. 

 

So, pardon me when I say this "Steve, please don't let the door hit you on the way out." 

 

Highly successful cricketer worthy of praise for his grit. But someone has to bring up his transgressions (yes, he was punished and cried and all that). 

 

I will pull for him to lose every time he surfaces in the IPL as a coach or whatever. Problem arises if he and Ponting are coaching and playing against each other. In that case, I will wish for incessant rain so neither can win. It is my janam haq :-)

@BacktoCricaddict this Aussie bunch is quite different from Border, Waugh, Ponting ones. Despite their onfield success, they are humble and chill, no OTT aggression, Indian team OTOH has gone the opposite way, blinded by arrogance and lack of accountability. Repeat offenders like Siraj and Harmanpreet Kaur should have been disciplined at some point, but here we are, encouraging their despicable conduct. 

 

Anyway thankful to Head for not exposing to the world the ugly side of Indians, would be a nightmare PR situation for India if that ever happens. The kind of hate and filth directed towards his wife and infant daughter from the uncivilized and morally dead Indian society post Nov 19, yet he always plays it cool. Probably doesn't want to embarrass us or be a conduit of hate like that rat Elon Musk. Believe me, there is an Oscar winning documentary waiting to be made to expose the ugly side of online Indians.

Azhar initially denied the allegations of links with Mukesh Gupta (who contacted Hansie Cronje), later agreed that he "made the match".
Third time again took a u-turn and played the minority card. 

Jadeja I think accepted in first time itself, hence got only 5 year ban. Azhar was banned for life.

Not my quote  , apparently JFK said it first. On topic, I had hate for this Steve during the Brainfade days until the sawdust incident. He took it on the chin and is much respectful or humble since then My hate for Ponting, Hayden, Langoor erm Lange , Waugh or border have risen after reading them more. They were typical Aussie bullies or racists.

Azhar never accepted it. In fact promoted a movie starring Emraan Hashmi to portray himself as victim. 

 

Jadeja accepting? news to me. Because CBI says he denied all charges and BCCI soft banned him to hush up the case. 

 

See I don't even like these gora cricket communities, but our credibility will improve when we own up to our mistakes. Our case against chcuking menace would have been stronger if we took action against Bhajji, on the contrary he was chucking away merrily even in later editions of IPL and not a word against him by commentators, players and most of our cricket community.

Steve Smith was always a smartass. He even fooled Aussie selectors into thinking him second coming of Shane Warne. He modelled his bowling on Warne but he could hardly bowl. They picked him as a bowler but his focus was batting and instead of becoming Warne, he became new Bradman.

The only thing i remember about Waugh is that he was one of the Greatest of all time.

 

Similarly, despite all efforts to ruin his legacy, for me Steve Smith is the greatest after Bradman.

 

These two are absolute champs. I would choose these two over any other Indian batsman in a time of crisis.
