What i meant to say he was inconsistent due to this approach. We should  only look at his technique. There are million different ways you can statpad if you really want at domestic level. Sundar did not play a single first class game for 4 years when he was included at the last minute for Gabba test.

This guy is okay, should be in squad, as of now he can carry drinks for Kohli and tie his laces, once Kohli goes away we will see.

Unfair to compare a kid with a legend like Kohli. Let him be his own man, applies to all youngsters. Similar in age to 2011 Kohli, long way ahead. 

 

What I like about him is his risk free way of scoring runs at good tempo, propensity to play along the ground, find gaps, not rely just on 4s and 6s. Kohli had these traits which made him so good in ODIs.....Sai has similar batting philosophy, and expect him to do well at least in ODIs. Both of them can be in the 27 squad, even sharing dressing room with Kohli will make Sai better, just like how Kohli benefited playing with Sachin and co.

In tests he should be tried asap, maybe next home series.

27 WC top 3 should be Jaiswal, Gill, Kohli. ODis is Kohli's best format, as the CT showed and he will do well on typical RSA pitches. If he wants to bow out in some format, should be tests, a format he hasn't taken seriously for the last 3-4 years if I am being brutally honest. No hiding in red ball, one must fully commit to it whole year especially for an old guy.

 

Sai can be groomed for #4 in ODIs, or at least as standby because Shreyas is still suspect on those kind of pitches. KL, Pandya, Axar, and some other finisher (preferably who can bowl medium pace like Reddy) should be our top 8.

 

In tests and T20Is, don't think Sai is there yet, maybe we can revisit after a couple of Ranji/IPL seasons.

Both Sai and Jaiswal are 2001 born so similar age. Iyer has been performing well at 4 as shown in WC and recently in CT. Iyer is suspect against short balls but LOIs everywhere is flat pitches. Sai should be priority for test matches as of now with India hitting the lowest in tests in last 6 months. Sai should be sure starter in the next home test series. Jaiswal will get his chances in ODIs but with Rohit -Kohli scoring runs there is no place in top order as of now. WC is 2.5 years away so we cant say with certainty but with India's history of going with seniors we can predict that both Kohli-Rohit will be part of WC. Right now India's priority should be getting their test team back on track with new players and sacking the fraud seniors. 50 over wc should not be even thing of worry as of now.

Bigger question should why is Tilak Verma sidelined for this guy. I like Tilak Verma far more than this guy.I would be suprised if he does not succeed in test cricket.He just needs chances.

Even Washi has done nothing special in FC. Averages better with bat and ball in tests than Ranji, and mind you he has played most of his tests in Aus and Eng.

Washi went in as AR, bowlers can get into sides with without FC records.

 

For pure batsman there is very little hope, simply because batting requires long hours of concentration and temperament which is built in FC with lot of practice.

But Washi went against much stiffer competition, Ashwin, Jadeja, Axar. 

 

Our #3 has been misfiring for 6 years now....Gill, Vihari, Padikkal, Nair all failed and even Pujara fell off a cliff in his last 3-4 years.

If number 3 cannot score runs on these pitches , they will never score runs. This series has been played on most flat wickets and against a subpar bowling attack.

 

Both Nair and Sai don't deserve any more chances.
