I think there is another one- but its an intra squad one.. England bowlers were as ordinary.

Visiting teams hardly get proper tune up with these matches.Inter squad matches with intensity might be better option to prepare. This is not a tour game.

These guys are playing FC cricket after a gap of allmost 6 months. Pacers need to have some overs under their belt. Bowl as much longer spell as you can for what's to come. Tonty Tonty cricket mostly ruins bowlers not batters that much.
The Realist Posted June 2, 2025 Posted June 2, 2025 Who picked this squad? Looks like a random collection of has-beens and those who will never make it. Bowling cupboard is bare and the door has fallen off. Soon to be 34 Thakur with his belly sums it up.

Bowlers to bowl 20 overs a day even if the opposition isn't the strongest. Nst practice can never replace match practice.

If you put up junior club cricketers with limited experience against a team comprised of very experienced first class batters, they are expected to struggle regardless of whether it is home or away. The Indian bowlers on the other hand all had significant first class and international experience and were bowling to batsmen mostly in their teens and early 20s with very limited experience. express bowling and tweaker 2

England are very strong at home and have not lost a series at home for 13 years ( to India for 18 years) and whatever the ball the new look Indian side is unlikely to do any better than much more experienced sides could Lankans beat them in 2014, NZ in 2021. express bowling 1
Gollum Posted June 3, 2025 Posted June 3, 2025 (edited) Poms earlier made greentops for Broad-Anderson, Broad 600 wickets, Anderson 700. Now they will make roads to help their bazballers and for Root to get past Tendulkar. Yet they moan about how they don't tailor pitches for home advantage and stat padding. You are right in theory but I don't think batting long is going to be learnt in one or two tour games. Bowling 20 overs again cannot be learnt by bowlers in tour games. Will they bowl 20 overs with same intensity? India A tours like this match is good option but I would have liked bit more help for bowlers .

vvvslaxman Posted June 3, 2025 Posted June 3, 2025 Poor bowlers had to slog through. Can't blame them much. Having said that this unit lacked a proper swing bowler. Thakur used to swing. Not sure if he does the same. Hope he has something left in him. Reddy does swing. But lacks control. Also he bowls too slow even by English trundling standard.

Thakur is clearly over the hill and neither his bowling nor batting is worth a place now. He is living off rescue performances from 4 years ago but time moves on. He is now an innocuous trundler at best. They need to bit the bullet and move on to younger options even if doesn't pay off immediately.
