Trichromatic Posted June 22, 2025 Posted June 22, 2025 Any spinner can do better than this in these conditions.

Majestic Posted June 22, 2025 Posted June 22, 2025 (edited) Prasidh is your typical ICF favourite who bowls fast but mostly sprays here and there. ICF has liking towards such bowler but fact is you put Mukesh Kumar instead of him and he would have done better than him. As for Thakur, he was poor too but why was he bowled so late in the day? He should have bowled two spells by now. Even Reddy will bowl this much and you get a good batsman. Edited June 22, 2025 by Majestic

Gollum Posted June 22, 2025 Posted June 22, 2025 Thakur also had the midas touch in previous SENA cycle, would get wickets out of nothing deliveries. And not just in tests. Remember how he got Smith out in consecutive games in 20-21 white ball leg, caught strangled down the leg both times. That luck doesn't last forever, and he is found wanting outside that golden patch. Very limited player, loads of luck, and credit where due, fighting ability is also there. He simply isn't talented enough to have sustained success at that level.
rkt.india Posted June 22, 2025 Posted June 22, 2025 Siraj is the bigger disappointment, has played 36 tests. Prasidh is new to test cricket so it's not entirely unexpected.
neel roy Posted June 22, 2025 Posted June 22, 2025 (edited) I can forgive thakur for his bowling. Its a flat pitch and he should have got to bowl early. But I cant forgive him for that pathetic shot with 3 balls to lunch. Jadeja was on other side. If he just had played out the three balls we would have hands on passed 500 Edited June 22, 2025 by neel roy BacktoCricaddict and rollingstoned 2

Prasidh is 30 years old. If he is new to being aware of what works in Test cricket for a fast bowler then India should look for other options. No excuse now. This is like saying Shreyas Iyer is new to Test cricket.
Majestic Posted June 22, 2025 Posted June 22, 2025 Why was Thakur picked in the side? Anyone? 3 overs of bowling? Reddy would have done better and he would have stitched a valuable partnership with Jadeja when India were 400+. We would have 500+ on board. Lord 1

That useless @sshat was bowling in mid 130s in kph or early 80s in mph. That's not fast. Anything below 90mph or mid 140s kph is not fast. Lot of people here claim Prasidh Krishna to be fast but when you see them in intl cricket they barely touch late 130s.

Didnt bowl much in IPL. Even then I'd play him as batsman

He does clock 140 regularly, may not be in this test match. But he is very wayward. He managed to get wickets due to batters trying to attack him and when he started bowling LOi fashion, like short bowl. express bowling and Lord 2
The Realist Posted June 22, 2025 Posted June 22, 2025 Should not come as any surprise as both been crap since forever

Typically, in tests, pacers known as Fast, average between 137 k to 139 k with Fastest balls in the 143 k to 147 k area. This is the " sweet speed area " where pacers play for long, have accuracy, move the ball etc. Bumrah, Cummins, Rabada etc. all fall in this area. Typically, in tests, pacers known as Express average between 140 k to 143 k with fastest balls in the 148 k to 154 k area. There are very very few such bowlers who stay fit to execute this over any length of time. Starc is the only one in the last 12 years. Wood misses too many tests to achieve this and has a high bowling average anyway. Nortje did not manage to play even 20 tests till age 31+. Increasing we will see pacers, all over the world, bowl fast only in T20 leagues and take it easy in international cricket. Already happening a lot among newer pacers.
Sooda Posted June 24, 2025 Posted June 24, 2025 (edited) Argument for PK to take the newer ball today first up with Bumrah and just bang it in for a four over burst look to hurt the Eng batters. Siraj is wasting the swing with the new ball anyway and seems better with the old one Edited June 24, 2025 by Sooda
