ash Posted August 2, 2025 Posted August 2, 2025 For now Ashwin > Jadeja but it can change, looks like Jaddu is going to have peak 3-4 years. Kohli shouldn’t even be in the discussion, I won’t even have him in the all time Indian test eleven.

Trichromatic Posted August 3, 2025 Posted August 3, 2025 5000 runs and 400 wickets will seal the deal for him.

Here are the players with 300 wickets and 3000 test runs. I believe anyone who achieves this is a special player in Test cricket. Jadeja is 4th on the list but has a better batting and bowling average difference than guys above (Kapil, Botham, Vettori). Botham likely was the best of all time as an All rounder. Sobers was more batting heavy but I wont debate if someone says he was the best All rounder. Needs to stay in form and play 20-25 more matches to get there. I think 4000 Runs and 350 wickets is the next milestone which will likely come for sure. However how much further get gets depends on how long he plays. Home tests will mean more wickets. More SENA tests will mean he has to retire around 370 wickets. On topic a case can always be made for Ashwin to be slightly ahead of Jadeja no matter what Jadeja ends up with. But both of them absolute champions and are ahead of Virat in my book. Keeping stats aside, Virat disappointed for way too long, thrown too many tantrums and kept playing and hurting the team (did not contribute when needed). Edited August 3, 2025 by cricspirit Gollum 1
jf1gp_1 Posted August 3, 2025 Posted August 3, 2025 NO. Jadeja has been an important member of our test side but to say he was greater than Ashwin or Kohli is just silly. cricspirit 1

Hard to get 5000 runs without enough matches for someone batting 6/7 for bulk of his career. Jadeja may just average 40 with the bat and score 4500 runs if he completes 100 tests. Broad, Ashwin, Warne, Hadlee and Vaas were more bowling all rounder category. Kapil, Botham, Imran, Pollock, Jadeja and Vettori are All rounders. I liked seeing Pollock bat but he did not take his batting as seriously in a strong South African setup. Vettori did lots of bowling and had to bat often being in a weaker NZ side. Irrespective great cricketers can be batters, bowlers or any category of all rounders. Gollum 1

The only way Jadeja gets 3 years if he keeps performing at this level or close to it. I think he won't get there. 4500 runs and 350 wickets are possible. He would probably like to play 100 tests before calling it a day. How many tests India is playing rest of the year and 2026 ? Edited August 3, 2025 by cricspirit
Sooda Posted August 3, 2025 Posted August 3, 2025 (edited) Overseas Jadeja has been one of our best batsmen , unfortunately it means captains feel obliged to bowl him ahead of better options (like Sundar here) Edited August 3, 2025 by Sooda Gollum 1
raki05 Posted August 3, 2025 Posted August 3, 2025 He is better batsmen than Bahin C**d in his own den Lord and Gollum 1 1

I could see him average close to 40 with the bat and sub 30 with the ball by the time he's done. What? He averages 25 with the ball. Lol…if we play in india his average will only go down. He will end up around 24avg with ball and with current batting form i would think 41-43… thats goat level stats Edited August 3, 2025 by Chaos
Gollum Posted August 3, 2025 Posted August 3, 2025 Just retire from ODIs man, your legacy will go 2 levels up. Shall prolong your test career, and spare you from more hate, undermining. Forget the 27 WC dream. Lord, raki05 and New guy 1 2
Trichromatic Posted August 3, 2025 Posted August 3, 2025 This was series where people were saying that Stokes is way ahead of him even when Stokes is at playing at home. Jadeja was ridiculed on SM after Lords test after he failed to chase score and so many people how Stokes would have hit sixes when he has never been clutch outside England. How Jadeja has ended with 500+ series, and slowly earned his respect back, can he take crucial wickets to gain praise SM sepoys?
Bigg Brother Posted August 3, 2025 Posted August 3, 2025 He can't get to 5000 runs. We don't play enough tests. He has 2 years max.
Vancouver Posted August 3, 2025 Posted August 3, 2025 I love Jaddu, he has best attitude. Super fit, naturally gifted athlete. He is very charismatic character. He is way more likeable than Ashwin and Kohli. Ash and Kohli cost India home series loss against Kiwis, they were spent 2 years ago. I always hated the look of Ashwin whenever he was dropped overseas, he came across someone who holds grudges and too much in his head.
