Looks like Ganju is first on the chopping block to accommodate Gill.

Tilak being a left hander is unlikely to be dropped.

Jitesh will be pinisher and Wk.. he was excellent with the gloves in IPL though.

Ganju's keeping is still pretty meh

Ashwin on YT saying Sanju is not in the starting XI as Gill will open now 100%.

I don't understand why Bumrah is playing this two bit T20 tournament which has no signficance and for which India don't need Bumrah to beat all the other teams anyway.

The first test against WI is 4 days after the final and counts for WTC points which are the one trophy India should be targeting now.

We could have the familiar "workload" shenanigans yet again,

The priorities in this setup seem messed up.

At least 4 selections different from what I had expected.

I thought they would have:

• Jaiswal in Gill's place
• Shreyas in Rinku's place
• Prasidh in Rana's place
• Parag or Washi in Dube's place

With Gill named VC, he will start in the XI. Which means Samson is out and Jitesh plays. Else, it will be top order heavy

That's what Gill's selection has done. He is top order only played unlike Iyer who can play anywhere between 3-6.

 

If Gill plays, one of Samson or Tilak have to make way. It might be Samson, so Jitesh can play at 6 or 7

Agree but where Iyer come to picture. Gill is an opener so only jaiswal can replace him. Still no place for Iyer.

There are Rinku and Dube in the middle as lefties. It's a 50-50 call, but surely only one of Samson and Tilak will play

By playing minimum three allrounder  to increase the batting depths till 8

Dube compitition was with washi not with Iyer. 

 

Iyer only compition is with Rinku but Rinku is Better at 6,7 when comes to finishing the game.  

 

Still no place for Iyer in the T20 team .

Actually , I just watched the PC with SKY and Agarkar and going by the order in which the squad was called, you are absolutely right .
