Kick SKY out of the team and replace him with Iyer

Fakebhat Gambhir has destroyed the team in his bid to keep Iyer out. Retirements of Rohit Kohli and Jaddu were God sent to move on yet we barely won against a trash team.

 

Sanju is not a no.5 . One game he batted at 8 lol. All to accommodate Gill who predictably did nothing. 

 

This is the team we should be having

I wanna keep Jaiswal for Tests. Very important he develops temperament of batting long. Arya is good option though too.

 

Jitesh I'm not sure is international material.

Jaiswal is the best performing IPL opener over the last 3 years. He deserves a go in T20s.

 

And Jitesh is perfect for middle or lower middle order. Samson is less than ordinary in middle order and needs to be dropped. We need team players and Jitesh is more like Dube and Rinku than Samson and Gill.

No doubt on Jaiswal's quality. But playing all formats as a youngster is tough. Bad habits can creep in. As of now he's far more important in Tests. In T20 we have options.

 

Jitesh is a slogger. That doesn't work in internationals v good teams . I have Samson opening where he has made 3 tons in last year

Throw Gill out and with Surya .. get  Vaibhav and Jaiswal in .. Jaiswal will need to play out of position .. Vaibhav , Abhishek , Jaiswal , Tilak ..  you either big or lose big ..  like that better ..

When has SKY ever performed in a big game or against tougher opponents? He cost us 2023 WC as well. He's only good at scoring cheap runs against 2nd XIs in bilaterals or against opponents like Oman, UAE, Netherlands etc.

 

Against better teams with their first XI or in bigger games he's a walking wkt. We've seen this across the years and there's enough data. He has played plenty of tourneys and all he has to show is Miller's catch in the WT20 final. Other than that he has been mostly a passenger.

SKY's 35 and has played for a few years and multiple ICC tourneys. If the best you've done is play a couple of supporting knocks then we need a lot more. Against Aus and Eng it was mostly Rohit's show and SKY simply followed in his slipstream. He has yet to play a knock where he was the main batter and difference maker. And he has had quite a few opportunities and yet he goes MIA.

 

If it's a must-win match, I don't have any confidence in SKY and don't expect him to perform. It's time someone like Iyer who has played clutch knocks to replace SKY.

Gill..never deserved to play ahead of Jswal.. though many of us believe..Jswal should be protected for longer form of the game..though Jswal may not like it..it will help Gill's technique and confidence too..if he stays out of T20..

Samson can bat again as an opener if we dont add Jswal..and till Priyansh Arya is ready..

 

Riyan Parag or someone else can come in lower order..if Samon moves up..though I want Riyan to develop more on his bowling..esp the carrom bowls etc..with more tighter lines and economy

More than mental weakness, it is just that SKY is a limited batsman who is not getting any younger now. 70% of his runs come in fine leg, long leg region, no top bowler worth his salt will feed to SKY's strengths. Anyway he still wants to manufacture that lappa shot, which won't work against pace off deliveries on non-pattas, or against Rabada in Barbados. 

 

His off side game is very limited, front of the square limited, doesn't trust his defence, tentative against quality wrist spin. Just too many issues. Credit that he has made it this far with so many inadequacies, but now even his reflexes will only go down as he is 35+.

 

BCCI won't change captaincy so soon before WC. We can only hope he regains some form, atm he is the biggest weak link and for a captain to be in that position, doesn't bode well for our chances.
