I think the above 2 does give him an edge over many other prospects.
He is already 25 now, best time to induct and give him overs under his belt. He is habituated to bowl long spells in FC and that gives Morkel something to work upon. Also, he isn't injury prone and that's a big advantage.

Give likes of Yudhvir, Gurnoor matches against teams like WI, SL at home and allow them to bowl alongside Bumrah or Siraj. Directly throwing them against a team like Aus in alien conditions may not be the right approach.

And has displayed the stamina to bowl a bouncer barrage for 11 overs on a flat deck.

 

And hardly any loose or hittable ball.

Squad is for both Tests. But they can still add Gurnoor.

Gurnoor is pretty accurate as well.  Well directed bouncers.  Runs in hard.

 

Could have had more wickets in first inns as well.  Kishan being a terrible wk was the issue.

Kishan is going to cost RoI the trophy here.  His two drops of Taide in 1st inns would be the difference.

i would play Prasidh and Harshit rana in the second test and rest Jaddu /kuldeep/washie/Nitish. i dont think Gurnoor is better than Prasidh or harshit- i have not seen gurnoor bowling live so cant say but Prasidh and Harshit are good. Prasidh was bowling deadly in the test in australia when he clean bowled a batsmen.

i see Prasidh siraj and akashdeep/harshit are our 4 pace bowlers ..gurnoor and yash thakur may fight for the 5th spot.

In India we have slow medium pacers who have brains and can pick wickets and super fast bowlers like Umar Malik, who can zip through defences with brute pace. But finally it's wickets that talk, i would rather have an Aditya Thakare than an Umar Malik. Ofcourse if Umar Malik gets brains , i don't think any one can face him ..
