Bangladesh should quit cricket (and sports in general)

B'desh is one of the worst sporting nations and IMO should stay away from cricket and sports. They've been playing cricket since 80s and despite being backed to the hilt they've been absolutely useless. Things are so bad that they've been clean swept by Afghanistan in ODIs and lost the final match by 200 runs! Yup, they lost to Afg by 200 runs. It's time they're put out of their misery and pushed down to associate teams. If ICC had backed any one of Ireland, Netherlands, Scotland or Afghanistan the same way they backed B'desh, we would've had a much more competitive team.

Kanglu Toygers got whitewashed 0-3 in the odi series against Afghans. Last night was really special for Kanglus when they ended up getting 93 while chasing 293.  Both scores look alike. Though they aren't.

FWIW, at least their women have shown a good level in this WC, could have beaten RSA with better catching. Even had Poms on the ropes before the TV umpire robbed them.

Cricket in general is boring sports and people are so much bored that they don't want to see single mismatched games.

What is funnier is that with a 180 million population, they have never come close to qualifying to a final in an Olympic event or even making a small mark in any other sport like hockey, badminton, tennis, squash. Even war torn Afghans, civil war SL have tasted success in Olympics. 

 

On SM you often see Kanglus having this superiority complex wrt India because they eat more meat/beef and are supposedly descendants of the Turks and Arab conquerors. 

 

Their hockey players show so much aggression against our guys, including getting physical, only to end up losing by ten goals margin every time.

Cricket is not thriving in the Caribbean because, with a 6 million population, they have multiple sports - basketball, track & field - to cater to and the market is tiny. 

 

Not to mention when they have to hop from one island to another, the transportation charges alone come up to 200,000 dollars at least per hop.

 

CWI suffer from severe financial and other  constraints which BD doesn't.

Think Bd won the t20i series and lost ODis. That should be okay as its t20i wc cycle.

 

3 formats are too much, think Bd should concentrate on White-ball cricket and start creating pitches for that.

 

Though they manage to win in home conditions with dodgy wkts but as soon as batting friendly wkts come they are not capable of scoring runs.

They have to learn how to construct innings and score runs in different phases of the game which on dodgy pitches is not possible.

SL is also going through the same issue, it has come to a point no visting team is intersted in the competing they just want to get the exp. and check some of their players who they presume are decent vs spin.

Sl has history of producing proper batters with no obvious weaknesses (equally good on off-side and on-side) 

 

Any the results driven from such tours are of no value

Hate the Kanglu cricket team but they did beat Afg 3-0 I think in the T20 series before ODIs..

Not sure they were full strength either in ODI series.

 

Overall though there is no denying that they are worst sporting nation on the planet.

Plus cricket is an expensive game tbh, just look at the cost and pricing of the equipment, hard to take it up as an option if there are other sports available to pick .

 

For a cntry is better to invest in olympics sports, it brings alot of attention and pride what is cricket bringing ??

A cricket size stadium can be used for multiple olympics sports : Race and track, all kind of throwing etcs and archery.

Agreed. It is prohibitively expensive in places like the Caribbean .

 

Can't really blame them for going the franchise route.

Congo (100 million)...though well represented in top football leagues, NBA. 

 

Others are small countries like Nepal, Maldives, Bhutan, Brunei, Laos, Pacific island states. 

 

Though you will always see them filthy Kanglus gloating and trolling Indians when we suffer sporting defeats.

Better to have 5-6 strong teams than having teams like B'desh which offer nothing.  WI at least have match-winners in the shorter formats and have been successful in the past in both Tests and shorter formats. But B'desh have yet to do anything across any format. And that despite having their "golden" generation in Tamim Iqbal, Shakib, Ashraful, Mustafizur, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmadullah, Mashrafe Mortaza etc.

 

All they could manage was an upset win in 2007 WC. Other than that nothing. You have to question what do they bring to the table and is it time the same level of support is given to another team.

Knowing B'desh they would've fallen short no matter what. At the end of the day they find a way to lose. Still recall Mushie celebrating like crazy against India in 2016 WT20 when they couldn't even score 2 off 3 deliveries

Plus West Indies is not one country. It's a collection of multiple island nations and IMO they may want to rethink having 2-3 separate teams. That might bring in more nationalism and motivation to do well and they may at least match NZ. Don't think West Indies can continue the way they're doing right now.

Losing to these *ers is very irritating, unbearable, we dropped quite a few ODIs against them in last 15 years including in WC, Asia Cup. Even in 2016 WT20, 2018 Asia Cup final, 22 T20 WC in Adelaide, we got lucky. 

 

Had we lost the 2022 Mirpur test, many of us would have taken a long break from cricket I guess. Wpuld have been the biggest humiliation for Indian cricket.

Their men are useless, women's team should get the funding they get. Maybe they'll reach a WC KO someday. 

 

Actually funny how their only ATG player Shakib was hounded out by them and now lives in USA.

Don't agree with that line of thought . West Indies have to stay together, if they split up into many nations, they'll become associates in no time. 

 

They have to make, and to be fair they are making, decisions to cut costs dramatically. 

 

If there's a tour, host all matches in one island, even if it's Tests. 

 

Unless it's Big 3 touring, get rid of DRS from all Test cricket played at home. 

 

For white ball and Big 3 Test tours , use the cheapest versions of Hawkeye(4 camera system ) or switch to Virtual Eye which is, apparently, even cheaper.

More t20 international teams. Yes. 

Not so much in tests though. Maybe the likes of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Pakistan, West Indies and others like Zimbabwe, Ireland etc join a 4 day 4 innings (70 overs per innings) new format. The stronger A teams of India , Aus , Eng can also participate in that format. Obviously some matches won't be on. These teams need to be proving they are deserving enough over a WTC cycle before getting back upto the elite league on probation for the next WTC cycle. 

Let proper test cricket be restricted to the teams which give a * about it. 

And if they can't beat the A teams of India, Aus , Eng, NZ... Then they probably don't deserve to get back into the elite league
