Gollum Posted November 15, 2025 Posted November 15, 2025 (edited) Such an important match, on the edge. Knowing we have to bat last against Maharaj-Harmer, Gill couldn't walk in and try to hang around for 10 minutes? Does such a coward deserve all format captaincy and all this mollycoddling? GG compares our cricketers with soldiers. Do they also abandon their operation due to moch? Contrast this statpadding coward's surrender with Pant's heroics few months back Edited November 15, 2025 by Gollum
tweaker Posted November 15, 2025 Posted November 15, 2025 First the team was selected with 3 wicketkeepers ,4 spinners. Gambhir ' s fascination with allrounder should end. Due to his big ego he dropped Sarfaraz from the squad, who would have been ideal at no 5 . He tried to impose Sai on the team but dropped him also.If he had leapfrogged him over everyone ,he should have been backed.
Suhaan Posted November 15, 2025 Posted November 15, 2025 I'm pretty sure anyone else would have still batted or come out later,it was not like we were in comfortable position for him not to consider coming out again Gollum 1

Nothing is going to happen to home. Even if he scores 10 runs in the 2nd innings his PR will dub it at as the best inning ever played with injury Gollum 1
Gollum Posted November 15, 2025 Author Posted November 15, 2025 Every opponent team must greet Gill with this henceforth. Crawley will always be 10 times the man this weasel can ever hope to be. nitinbwj and rollingstoned 1 1
Tillu Posted November 15, 2025 Posted November 15, 2025 Never seen a guy this pampered in any of the Indian teams ever. A coward like him doesn't deserve to lead our team. He just have to support Axar by blocking the balls and he couldn't do that. Gollum and nitinbwj 1 1
Gollum Posted November 15, 2025 Author Posted November 15, 2025 Next time GG compares our players with soldiers or draws any equivalence, he should get a nice tamacha across his face.

Pretty serious because both went on to miss the Gabba test, you could see them grimacing so often during that partnership. Ashwin even took a few body blows from Cummins because he was unable to sway out of the way of short pitch deliveries in time. Still they held the fort for 43.4 overs, couldn't even rotate strike because of restricted movement for both. Only when one bowler became too threatening, they rotated strike. And Jaddu was ready to come in next, he had a broken thumb (Starc hit him in 1st innings) which ruled him out of not just Gabba but also the home Eng series. And here we have a captain who can't come in and bat for 5-10 minutes because of a neck spasm. sage, cricspirit, Suhaan and 1 other 4

Skillwise he is way down than each one in the side still gets to lead ,courtesy of scoring mainly against minnows/weak attacks in flat conditions
zen Posted November 15, 2025 Posted November 15, 2025 (edited) At the end of the day, cricket is a sport. I would not equate most things related to cricket as Desh Bhakti or cricketers as Desh Bhakts. Therefore, I would not expect anyone to play despite injury esp. since cricket, in one form or the other, is now played round the year. The cricketer are professionals, playing (and at times indulging in politics) for themselves first. When you follow a major tournament and if the team wins, it gives payback and a sense of short term pride, but that is about it. I usually tell fellow Indians to show Desh Bhakti through keeping India clean, green, corruption free, playing taxes properly, etc., first, and not just by waving the flag at a sports stadium where the main purpose is to entertain ourselves. It is not a good idea to not equate cricket (whether playing or following it) to desh bhakti. Cricket is a professional sports with $$$ being one of the key drivers, and for its followers, it is primarily an avenue of entertainment and time pass, especially due to relatively easy access to it. Ask your selves, would we see fans of Tendulkar, Dhoni, Kohli, Rohit or whoever as Desh Bhakts or clowns online and at stadiums? That shows how the cricketers too are not (or should not be) viewed as Desh Bhakts. If we link cricket to patriotism, we are probably only fooling ourselves. Gollum Posted November 15, 2025 Author Posted November 15, 2025 @zen the person who brings jingoism to cricket is our coach, Gambhir. He is the only one who keeps invoking deshbhakti, freedom fighters, army etc. in PCs, makes weird comparisons with our jawans.

Gambhir is probably only taking the easiest path to “market” his patriotism. He should be laughed at unless using patriotism as a (more or less ineffective) tool to motivate the players. PS This appears to be a sarcastic thread to laugh at Gambhir? Edited November 15, 2025 by zen
nitinbwj Posted November 15, 2025 Posted November 15, 2025 Gilli's oral skills must be great. GG is happy

But what should gambhir do…. Gill is not his son whom he can force to play. What Gambhir fill is his own pov that doesn’t mean he can do squat and force a player to bat when that individual himself is captain of the team and has no guts to play. Gambhir during his playing days had shown warrior spirit which he talk about but he cant force such things , he can only motivate players. Gambhir can be bashed for his selection and other holler stuff but i dont think on Gill’s buzdili he should be held accountable. Manucrick Posted November 15, 2025 Posted November 15, 2025 I had some respect for gill but now all gone never seen a coward captain like him
Manucrick Posted November 15, 2025 Posted November 15, 2025 ganguly Msd kohli Rohit those were our former captains how the hell we end up with a guy like gill
putrevus Posted November 15, 2025 Posted November 15, 2025 God, what are we doing ? Poor guy is injured and we are questioning his toughness. If he is unable to play that should be end of it. If Gambhir has any issues like some people here, I would personally go where ever he is and slap him. BacktoCricaddict 1
