deepdynamo Posted November 26, 2025 Author Posted November 26, 2025 (edited) To add more, 1) The obsession with bits n pieces players must die. 2) Maybe a team of specialists in Test Cricket. Separate white ball with red ball. 3) Ditch IPL, Reward Ranji. Edited November 26, 2025 by deepdynamo IndianRenegade 1

Sai & Nitish are basically IPL products and both got exposed big time. Gautam Gambhir & Agarkar are diectly responsible for this mess. No two way about it.
LordPrabhzy Posted November 26, 2025 Posted November 26, 2025 There is no fix. BCCI wants a year long IPL. That is not possible if India is great at test cricket and winning everything. Get people so desensitised to Test losses and embarrassments, fans will themselves stop watching it it and lo longer IPL will come in to fill the void. What is the point of Ranji, if IPL is being used to Fasttrack selections to Test cricket deepdynamo, nevada and Lord 3
Insidious Posted November 26, 2025 Posted November 26, 2025 Kick out Gambhir and the whole coaching staff. Bring Bharat Arun and shastri.
tweaker Posted November 26, 2025 Posted November 26, 2025 Sack Gambhir and all his assistant. Appoint Chandrakant Pandit,Praveen Amre Or other domestic coaches and assistant. Select Eashwaran, Sarfaraz, as test specialist batsmen. Identify options for Jadeja ie Suthar,Dubey,Kotian, etc. Identify Wicket taking fast bowlers. No players should be com placement and there should be completion.for every spot. deepdynamo 1
cricspirit Posted November 26, 2025 Posted November 26, 2025 (edited) Most of these players have no stomach for Test cricket. The grind, the pain. Hard to fix anything in that situation. The coach change is correct but wont solve everything. Edited November 26, 2025 by cricspirit BacktoCricaddict and nevada 2

Ranji isnt valued, Coaching staff has no clue how to build a test team so why would any young player bother grinding it out. The whole grassroot level structure is disconnected to BCCI who wants to only make money and focus on IPL- guys are only playing Ranji to get noticed for IPL auctions- no one has an ambition to play test cricket for india cricspirit and nevada 2
Vickydev Posted November 26, 2025 Posted November 26, 2025 Ranji season needs to be longer. Just 7 group games is disgraceful, so many players(say from a team like from Delhi) who never make KOs are missing out. Also go back to 3 elite groups please putrevus 1
vvvslaxman Posted November 26, 2025 Posted November 26, 2025 I understand the point about bits and pieces players. If a batsman is a specialist batsman that rack up runs and can bowl a fwe overs he is not a bits and pieces player. Case in point Musheer khan, Riyan paragh (who needs atleast 3 or 4 yeasr before thinking of tests). If someone bowls full quotas and can bat (like Ashwin) then he is not bits and pieces player. Most teams have them. Muthuswamy, Bosch, Mulder, Mitch Marsh can also be classified as bits and pieces players. Ackerman could have played as a specialist batsman over Muthusamy as Muthu didn't bowl much. As a matter of fact even we want our specialist batsmen trying to improve the batting. Bumrah, Siraj, Kully. South Africa won 2 tests just with Rabada's batting in recent times. We shouldn't deviate from that idea while trying to find specialists. BacktoCricaddict 1

Bowlers with zero batting credentials and fielding credentials must step up 9 out of 10 times. Remember we lost 6 wickets for 0 runs in South Africa after being 154/4 after bowling SA out for 51 runs. Thankfully match went our way. That could have gone pear shaped had SA added another 100 runs. Also at Headingley we were in such a commanding position. We lost last 6 wickets for 39 runs, then another 7 for 41 runs. From winning position we went to losing position. There is that. All teams do that. Even SA does that. If you look at SA bowling just 2 bowlers showed up mostly. THey missed Rabada too. Jansen's runs, Muthuswamy's runs played its part. But Gambhir pushed the envelope too far. Two wicket keepers. Jurel is sor tof an all rounder. Reddy is an all rounder. Two slots could have been taken by some specialist batsmen. Jaiswal and Rahul also played a major role in this capitulation. In the absence of Gill they were supposed to be shouldering the burden. They exposed the inexperienced all rounder line up to them. If you look at the two highest run getters in this series (only two that crossed a total of 100 runs in the series) are all rounders. Sundar and Jadeja. deepdynamo 1

rtmohanlal Posted November 26, 2025 Posted November 26, 2025 bring in specialists for test cricket. They should not play any t20 match. Some of them(stroke makers) can play ODIs atmost.Increase the match fees of 'test only' players because of them not playing T20. Once a rookie plays some 30 odd inns and still averages some 30 odd after that , drop him immediately as he is not build for this test format. Try another youngster. No one should be spared. rahul is an example of this selection incompetency.Try this trial and error method till a solid group of 10-15 batsmen for all conditions is emerged. Similar is the case with bowlers too. T20 specialists should never play tests, utmost a few of them can play ODIs. deepdynamo 1
