BCCI which is usually the last to announce WC squads is set to annouce it 2 months before start of the WC :rotfl:

Why? So that Gill, SKY can be selected before more questions are posed? Does Jaiswal's food poisoning yesterday have anything to do with this sudden change?

We still have to play 5 T20Is agains NZ at home in Jan, so why the hurry?

If they do this and select SKY, Gill, what does that say about BCCI, GG, Agarkar? I don't think things were this shady even during match fixing era.

Usually WC squads are finalized 2-3 weeks before the start of the tournament. That would mean 2nd or 3rd week of January. No movement along such lines from any other country. Strangely BCCI is set to announce WC squad before announcing the squad for NZ series :hysterical:

Lets see if they announce both the team for Nz series and the wc.

And even if they select both wc team there is nothing wrong in it, ppl will try to find something when there is nothing .

If they donot select them early ppl will that selectors are not confident of certain player and this is not giving confidence back to players.

And if team is selected early they will say its shady...

If they select the team for wc now yes it would be to give confidence to player and tell them their place is locked be it Sky, GIll or Sharma.

Do not think they were ever going to drop VC and Captain

Are sky and gill under pressure yes they are. will they be selected regardless yes.

So now the selectors and tm have to find a way to maximize the resources

last time too diff. news outlets sm channels were telling this or that player will be selected and 1 who had 1 good IPL game was going to be in Ind wc team.

They do same thing during the ipl auction times

We all know why BCCI is doing that. So they can get in useless Gill and SKY. Now they can say they had no choice but to stick to SKY as Iyer was "injured" and that there was no time to try out Jaiswal as opener. They'll keep Samson in the squad but we all know he'll be there to make up the numbers so the golden boy Gill can open.

Shyt I hop Samson may somehow replace Gill at the top..these fkrs have intentionally done this to cement Gill at the top..

Once they selected him as VC is was almost certain that he will be picked in the 11 and play as opener

Why even name a VC? Just pick someone to captain when the main captain isn't around. Why pre-empt when the need for VC may not even arise?

More likely ppl like gavaskar/sastri/harsha would come out and say that team is selected and not point in discussing if that player or this player or that other player its better to support this team now.

When gill was seecte vc of t20i team it was clear, they thought time is good Ind and gill are coming of a good Eng series get him to T20i team and as Asia cup has some not so strong team he will score runs that will give him some breathing time and a justification to his selection

mentioned this on other thread too ::

calibrate the potential t20i score with Gill opening think 160-180 is the range. And if Ind has good day 180 +.

Here it the playing 11::

Sanju <Open>

Gill <Open>

Here sanju does not have to be over aggressive just play ball by ball as if he is playing with accumulator, this way it does not build much pressure on Gill to match up and not much pressure on Sanju as well to score for Gill's low SR which is what abhishek is forced to do now. This will be similar to how Gill plays in GT

Sky

Tilak

Pandaya

Abhishek

Rinku/Parag/Kuldeep/Dube/Nkr

Axar

Bhumrah

Varun

Arsh

this way Ind have 3 finisher pandya , abhishek,rinku/dube/rtc+Axar 7 bowling option if any1 else other than rinku plays and 8 batter if any1 other than kuldeep plays

or open with gill and sky as ind did in wc-24 with kolhi and rohit. Then load up with mo and lower mo batter

Was to clearly tell that its not a soft move or a hard decision, they wanted to pass the message in the team and as well viewers that they are looking him as a all-format captain and that's why they sent full strength team so that no one can say because bhumrah is not there so he is vc , axar is not there or anyone else

Just our luck that the worst 2 players and the weakest links in the team are captain and vice-captain!

You can't make this shyte up! Great going BCCI! Well done! :wall:

Not luck, our choice. A rotten system which is blindingly corrupt, nepotistic, and where there is a lack of accountability. I read a stat that over the last 12 months, the only captain with worse batting stats than SKY is captain of Rwanda. Yet, not one question mark about his place, apparently he is batting well in nets as per him...bhai khud ko hi medal de rahe hain.

Australia never puts a foot wrong when it comes to ICC tourney selection. That is why they have all the trophies and maces to show. They even kept their main guns out of CT this year because of injury/fatigue reasons.

Our women's selection for the WC was spot on, even non-selection of Shafali had solid reasons...and she was rightly called back when Rawal broke her ankle. When your neeyat is saaf, good things will happen. Women's team better off because the star culture there is less, and even the main attractions like Kaur, Mandhana are nothing compared to male stars for BCCI.

Our men's team has always been hindered by compromised selection, happened in 2017 CT F, 2019 WC SF, 2023 F. And for most of our T20 WCs where we always carried non-performers like Rahane, Dhawan, Jadeja, Rohit (did nothing from 2009-22 editions), Dhoni, Ashwin (22 edition), trundler army. In back-to-back ICC ODI KOs, we selected Bhuvi over Shami. Is that luck or incompetence/stupidity/bias? Shami in that format is no less than Starc, Akram, McGrath, Brett Lee, Garner, meanwhile Bhuvi?

I thought we had finally seen the light and were finally going in the right direction. But all that progress is gone with back to non-performers thanks personal biases and trying to manufacture stars.

The only reason I supported GG was because I thought he would cure us of this star worshipping disease. But he just wants a continuation of this system, just that he wants next 'stars' to be his chamchas and not independent-minded.

After seeing all this, I am convinced that GG as coach has been the biggest mistake in Indian cricket. He has none of the good qualities of Shastri (man management, pace culture), Dravid (data analysis), Fletcher (was great as batting coach) either.

Star culture in India will never die. Majority Indians worship stars, don't care about the craft. Saw it in the Messi episode as well, most of those lunatics would have never touched a football or attended their kid's game. These cricketer worshipping fanboys and girls who pollute SM don't care about the sport either, but those are the kinds of scum who BCCI wants to placate....bhaad mein jaye trophies and results.

I wish Gill gets injured for the t20 world cup... thats the only way someone more deserving (like Samson) will get a berth in the team
