Trichromatic Posted January 25 Author Posted January 25 I think this will be more common slowly depending on the reaction of the people. 1. Start banning non-veg item within certain perimeter of temples - move that even fence sitter will find difficult to oppose. Implement and analyse the reaction. https://ommcomnews.com/odisha-news/odisha-govt-plans-ban-on-liquor-non-veg-sales-near-puri-jagannath-temple/ 1 km radius 2. Increase the radius around which it is banned. 3. Ban delivery of non-veg in that zone. https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/ayodhya-bans-non-veg-delivery-within-ram-temples-15km-radius/articleshow/126444980.cms 4. Start banning non-veg during specific zones on ad-hoc basis during festivals - gauge the reaction further. https://www.thehindu.com/news/national/madhya-pradesh/no-ban-on-meat-egg-sale-in-bhopal-during-navratri-officials-deny-news-reports/article70085517.ece 5. Ban non-veg during non-religious days - First example of this kind. http://thehansindia.com/news/national/koraput-dm-orders-non-veg-ban-on-r-day-1042230 6. Expand the scope slowly each year.

G_B_ Posted January 26 Posted January 26 This thread is laughable, really. India consumed 6kg per capita of meat as of today (up from 4.5 kg of meat in 2010). Fish has increased from 8kg per capita to 12kg. The above tells me: (a) People dont eat meat every day anyway. 18kg per year works out to around 49 grams of meat a day. Which tells me your typical meal has no non veg. This includes states like WB where the fish consumption is higher and is about 80grams per capita per day. For meat to be a daily staple per capita consumption needs to triple. (b) The per capita consumption of meat has increased and continues on an upward trajectory. Which means the BJP gov is certainly not a barrier and it is driven by increasing incomes. https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/meat-consumption-by-country https://ourworldindata.org/grapher/per-capita-meat-type diga 1

Not really Per capita milk consumption has doubled and continues to rapidly grow. 100g of paneer has same % protien of 100g of chicken. We need to focus on some rice eating states for deficinecy of protein. There is limited value in saying i am non veg when 80% of your consumption is rice. The biryani effect. India needs high protien strains of rice. A typical chapati/roti with fortified indian wheat has 4/5 grams of protien. I think its like 2 grams for rice.

These foods can make you physically sluggish and prone to disease. Your mental state becomes dull, confused, and inert. Your spiritual growth faces obstacles as consciousness gets clouded with qualities of ignorance. Tamasic is not bad for all, in fact, it is recommended for people who do hard physical lab and those who fight in the army and defend borders.

I have already mentioned in length about why its a problem if the majority religion is pushed by government and how it can lead to fascism. But there are various other side effects of a government pushing religion and a country moving from secularism to religious. Religion pushes superstitions, we have alternate treatments and completely fraud medicinal men, we have superstitions being pushed and actual science being ignored, nonsense claims are given the same level as scientific facts. Education is affected (look at America trying to ban evolution in classes, etc). Religion also gives people an excuse to push their narrow-minded world view on others Our finding fathers pushed against this and people like Rajmohan Roy and others worked a lot to make us a scientific, logical nation. Pushing religion on our country will just send us back to the stone ages. Edited January 26 by New guy Gollum 1
