I also think Venezuelan oil will come cheaper than Russian oil - to offset much greater shipping time/distance  ( and therefore cost ) and longer refining process.

Hope GoI ensures that prices remain stable or trend downwards for households and cap the profit on Reliance.  Am sure they can do it if they want to.

Its not about cost. Its about standing up with Russia in time of need to cement relationship further. We cant say, when it was our turn to standup we cant standby Russia

Ambanis were to be sanctioned for dealing with Rosneft and Lukoil. Russian said buy it from third company. Indian Government said, Keep Ambani out of it and let sale be from other oil companies be refined by non Ambanis,  at the same time spend more money via Russian defence.

This gives face saving to every party. US can say Indians have switched to Venezuelan Oil. Trump can say he won peace with his Oil policy on Russia. While Russia and India just trade by different name

Indian aircraft maker predicts big demand for Russian Sukhoi passenger jets

State-backed Hindustan Aeronautics Limited believes the superjets will be ideal for improving regional connectivity
Indian aircraft maker predicts big demand for Russian Sukhoi passenger jets

India’s state-backed Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) expects massive demand for Russian Sukhoi superjets as the South Asian nation boosts regional connectivity, its top official has said.

HAL entered into a joint venture with Russia’s United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) to manufacture SJ-100 superjets, on the sidelines of the Wings India 2026 aero exhibition in Hyderabad on Wednesday. The SJ-100 has a capacity to seat 103 passengers.

The SJ-100 program will help Indian airlines overcome delays in aircraft deliveries from global manufacturers, HAL Chairman and Managing Director, D K Sunil, was quoted by the PTI news agency as saying on Wednesday.

“We see a good market of upwards of 200 aircraft for this size of India and you know in the local region,” he said, referring to the Indian government’s regional connectivity program.

“In three years we will do the roll-out in a semi knock-down condition. Bring all the assemblies, assemble it. That is the target in three years. So, bring in all the facilities, bring in the test equipment and get it going,” he added, according to the report.

UAC will provide technical assistance, design services, and specialist support to re-equip HAL’s facilities.

Sunil said HAL is exploring leasing aircraft before full-scale manufacturing begins at its facilities, according to the report.

“In the next year or so, year and a half, we can get in about ten aircraft. So, that is the idea that we are bringing in,” he added.

Manufacturing the SJ-100 in India is in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Make in India’ initiative to boost domestic production capabilities.
UAC also signed a deal at the Hyderabad air show to supply six Ilyushin aircraft to an Indian firm.

The Russian company will provide assistance to the Indian company to gradually increase the capabilities of aircraft assembly, modification, maintenance, repair, and overhaul, as well as infrastructure development.

India will increase trade with Russia. We have already signed that Bilateral Trade to reach 100 billion from current 65 billion by 2030. Above news from Jan 30 says actually means most domestic planes will be Russian origin.

Seems GB is right. Russia deal is around the corner.

Russia gets donbas entirely and keep what it holds. They maintain a land bridge to crimea.

Ukraine gets security guarentees (boots in ground) without joining nato.

I think there will be a spike in uae oil exports to india. Uae will be that middle man. Can see iran doing same.

This venezuela thing is fine but it will take years of investment for volumes to be good enough. They barely export 1 mill a day.

China is biggest loser in all this.

See , Trump is to meet Xi in April. He would need everything aligned before the meet.

BTW, I was expecting Piyush Goel to speak in Hindi on trade deal so that his clips dont go viral on CNN :phehe:

Okay scratch that... This is going to be messy

You still need more details on what agricultural products they are selling to india. It could be some stupid American corn that can be used to make ethanol, millets, fertilizer, I’m just guessing. India should be looking at lesser agricultural produce just to be self-sufficient and to reduce the water table exhaustion in Punjab Haryana. You still need to hear the details from Indian site yet not from some US experts like civil.

Then Goyal would have explicitly told that... He came half a**ed himself literally and said some random shizz in PC

Bottom line is

Trump claimed 3 things in his tweet
- India will stop buying Russian Oil
- Zero tariffs on US products coming to India
- India will be purchasing Agricultural products from US
For some reason, Govt of India has not officially denied any of these claims.

As per goyal who himself looked unsure about things pretty much.

So the entire press conference was spent telling us that
140 crore Indians are celebrating a deal,
a deal that isn’t a deal,
a deal without details,
a deal whose details will be dealt with later

EoD you can say that negotiations have restarted.  GoI by now knows any attempt to include agri and dairy and they will ripped apart domestically.

But they shied away from straightaway "excluding" as well.

They are caught in a rough spot with Trump and how to manage it at home.

Sergio has his political ambitions too. Expect his tenure in India to be eventful.
