It’s Time for a World-Class Broadcast in India

The viewing experience on Star Sports feels increasingly regressive, characterized by a relentless barrage of cringe marketing and cluttered visuals. Fans are tired of pre-match shows that prioritize Bollywood cameos over tactical depth and split-screen advertisements that cannibalize live action during the most intense overs. We deserve a broadcast that respects the viewer’s intelligence ,one that swaps gimmicky noise meters and forced banter for high fidelity 4K visuals and sophisticated data analytics. Instead of treating every match like a loud variety show, Star Sports needs to embrace a cleaner, more professional aesthetic similar to global peers like Sky or Fox. The focus must shift back to the technical nuances of the game, providing insightful commentary that isn’t afraid to be critical, rather than the sanitized, sponsor-driven narrative we are currently forced to consume. As the primary stakeholders of the game’s economy, Indian fans deserve a product that mirrors the world-class quality of the cricket played on the field

On top of it, you are charged a fee to watch this

In general, Indians have no taste. Be it fashion, cuisine, entertainment/showbiz, sports coverage, even hobbies. You can't feed something classy or thought provoking when 99% viewers are so primitive.

What Satyajit Ray said about our movie audience holds true for cricket audience as well. Backward, unsophisticated people.

I have realized people think differently. What is right and wrong depends on the person. An Arab thinks differently compared to say a Japanese vs say an African vs say a Nordic person vs say a South American vs say an Indian.

I have spoken to all the above and they all think very differently. The brain is literally wired differently.

Aesthetics follow income.

Indian fine dining is a thing now as well as good shows on OTT and some movies.

Need 25 years to be fully polished.

Does civic sense follow income? India is a different basketcase, can't apply ROTW's standards or metrics.

Trust me, things are only going worse. Cricket coverage in 90s was far classier than this ****. Even the ads, promos used to be fun earlier.

Follows a U shaped curve.

Like Sehwag, Bhajji generation etc.

90s Anglophile class had the power. Now caters to broader cruder demographics. Will take time for this cohort to be more sophisticated.
