putrevus Posted February 23 Posted February 23 (edited) NRR has taken mega blow yesterday.NRR for India is at -3.80. Even if it wins next two matches is there any way they can get ahead of two teams on NRR. One loss has ended India's chances before also.2012 India won every match except one against Australia. It was also first match in super eights/sixes whatever it was called then.Spinners were supposed to lead India then too , they were brutally massacred by Watson and Warner.Aussie pacers dominated whereas India played with just one fast bowler Zaheer. But there was quick shower during innings break and according our captain Dhoni that ruined the pitch. No one in the team seem to have understood the concept of taking the game closer and helping the team on NRR.Rinku Singh is in the team for his batting and he hacked first delivery he faced and got out. What does it say about coaches, , players ability to think on their feet.IMO coaching was exposed yesterday. No tactical awareness at all. Can India recover from this loss??? Bigg Brother Posted February 23 Posted February 23 No. 2012 seems very correct example. We may win against Zimbabwe but then against WI we will have to win by certain margin which we won't be able to do with such a shitty NRR. SA winning their remaining 2 games is the only way we can hope. putrevus 1
Vickydev Posted February 23 Posted February 23 Tbf India have come back from losses to win tournaments...2007, 2011. Our recent success has skewed us in thinking that one loss is terminal However we needed solid leadership here, build a better combination than just your best individuals, which we have done with 3 lefties at the top
Zero_Unit Posted February 23 Posted February 23 One loss man. There is a good chance Ind and sa might will rest of the matches so nrr should not matter.

What we needed was win against SA and England at that time. Here we stunk badly..76 runs loss is massive. putrevus 1

Manucrick Posted February 23 Posted February 23 Let’s see how today’s match unfolds but I genuinely think India is not good enough to lift the trophy Mariyam 1

Who are bowlers in this team after Bumrah.SA were 20/3.
Suhaan Posted February 23 Posted February 23 I don't see India going through,SA may very well loose to WI or Zim,given they have lost against NETHERLANDS few times in the past This team is seriously under too much pressure don't see them overturn it VT87 1
Frustrated Posted February 23 Posted February 23 Ind's NRR won't matter if Ind & SA win the remaining 2 matches. As simple as that.
Sean Bradley Posted February 23 Posted February 23 Our only hope is to score 250 against zimbabwe and bowl them out for 150 to make up for NRR, i expect South Africa to drop a match against West Indies. Manucrick 1

speedster Posted February 23 Posted February 23 We need to win our own matches and hopefully the rest falls in place, having said that the way our batting is going I am not sure we will win against WI, expect us to win against Zim, if we loose against the former then NRR is moot
Mariyam Posted February 23 Posted February 23 What if WI vs SA or Zim vs SA is rained out? That can't be good for us. putrevus 1

We were definitely unlucky in 2012. I remember that Aus match very well. Very sluggish pitch and we were inserted in, then torrential downpour during innings break, reduced match which Aussies won easily as ball behaved like wet soap. Very similar to an ODI match in 2018 RSA tour where Klaasen won them a game in a DLS match (rain started in innings break), Chahal got a big phainta. We beat Eng, Pak, RSA in 2012 edition, still missed SF spot due to NRR. We played best in 2014 edition (huge missed opportunity) in the 2009-22 years, followed by 2012. Even though we made SF in 2016 but not 2012, I will rate our level of 2012 much higher. Edited February 23 by Gollum
