Where he always lacked has been ICC events, he does not get that many wkts and mostly in imp. games. Kurnal -- he always has 1 good game with bat and 1 good game with ball in IPL, he is similar version of jaddu, axar who ever is in form can make it to ind side. Axar has shown he is proper big game player even with his limitations. There is time to the t20i wc , and it will be in Aus+Nz so you will need just 1 spinner who would that be ??? Do not make much of these low score chased down in ipls 160-175ish total, you are really never behind the game a 1 fgood 40-45 runs partnership is game over for opp. plus there will always be 1-2 not that high class bowler to get 4/6. Its really good when a new uncapped player takes the resposibity of chases but intl capped/ IPl veterans these are easy chases as there are 1-2 bowler who they can take down anytime Players who have already played for Ind at intnl level should not be judged based on IPL performances, they should be judged on what they did at intnl level and have they improved on it by alot. Ultimate_Game Posted May 11 Posted May 11 Krunal only as a backup to Axar in T20s. Bhuvi if no other pacer steps up. I would prefer Mohsin and Nitish to take the all-rounder role along with Pandya. But if we don't have an in form pacer by the time WC rolls along, one of Bhuvi and Shami can be in the WC squad. At the end of the day other bowlers need to step up to earn their spot. If they don't we have to find options as I don't want to see Siraj, Avesh, Mukesh or other pacers not suited to white-ball cricket.

Krunal is 34 and Bhuvi is 35...we are already looking at time where investing on a young player is the need of the hour. Dont need to go based on IPL...Axar is younger than Krunal. Then we have Manav Suthar, Nishant Sindhu, Sai Kishore as the options. Same goes for Bhuvi...he has always done good in IPL by being economical. But in the internationals he has been an impactless trundler. Just a couple of boundaries and he will start bowling wide to save his @$$. Vaibhav Arora or Mukesh Chaudhary offers more with new ball. Mohsin, Prince have more utility as well. Swing bowling looks good as it seems artistic, but trundlers have nothing to revert to once they're attacked. nevada Posted May 11 Posted May 11 No. Recalling washed up players on the basis of IPL performance hasn't worked in the past and won't in the future. Bhuvi's last comeback to the National team was also on the back of IPL success IIRC. And he didn't have much to show for it. DK was recalled due to IPL exploits for RCB and that didn't workout well either. Players who can no longer cut it at international level can still do well in domestic and IPL level. Good for them, let them have a good time and earn a living. But stop viewing them from the prism of National team selection! singhvivek141, tapandrun and Suhaan 3
