It should be Axar (spin all-rounder) + Pandya+Nitish (or another pace all-rounder) + Bumrah + Specialist pacer + Specialist bowler (Pacer or spinner). That leaves 5 batting spots open. Right now Gill, Rohit, Kohli, Iyer and KL take those.

 

My biggest worry is that even someone like Ishan can't get in and ideally we should also have Sai in there. And this compulsion to bring in Sundar further weakening the batting.

Axar + Pandya + Nitish at 6 ,7, 8. A Big NO. But Gambhir can very much assemble such team. Even put Washington ahead of Axar. Or maybe Jadeja could also make a comeback.

Brar, Prince and Ishan got game time. Now it won't be easy for folks to push out Ishan, or not think about Gurnoor. These bilaterals are meant for fringe players and increasing the player pool. I wish we could've given some more players a go but at least 3 players got a chance and did well.

That configuration has won India the CT and lack of which came back to bite them in the WC final in 23.

 

Even in 24/26 T20 WC it was followed.

 

It will be 5 + 3 + 3

7 specialist bowlers is one too many. What we've found is depth till 8 is non-negotiable and has delivered the best results for us. I would follow the same approach given our bowlers are duds with the bat and can't be relied to even score 10 runs amongst themselves.

This time of the year, we should be touring Eng, WI, Ireland, Zimbabwe...latter two we can send development squads. Not cricket season in India.

Nkr pandya axar or / parag pandya axar this will do wonders for us. six batters pandya 4 bowlers that's virat plan it won't take us anywhere

Yup, we all saw what a team with specialists did. You need batting depth and multi-dimensional players to win ICC tourneys. Adding Axar was the main difference and now we're going backwards backing Sundar who's not good enough or playing more specialists.

 

Sweet spot is 3 specialists bowlers and 3-4 all-rounders with batting depth till 8. If we revert to batting ending at 6 or 7 expect the same results we saw over our lost decade where one top order collapse ended our tourney.

It's honestly better than what we were doing vs NZ C and got humiliated in the process 

 

Youngsters have rarely let us down. They beat Aus in Aus in 2020-21 BGT and won us the recent WT20 at a canter. It's the "experienced" has beens who've been the problem.
