Moronic Manjrekar and other morons on here are whining about Kohli and Rohit playing world cup while this guy is playing all three formats.

Sundar does not belong in any format. But this idiot coach is hell bent on playing him.

He has done well in Tests. He is the only batter in the XI that I can trust to deadbat like Pujara.

But he is a strict no in white ball. No idea why he is still played, that too as a batter at times

He is not a top6 batter in any format and he is not a test level spinner, yes he has done well but he can only be a force multiplier not the 1st 11 names on the playing 11 list.

If there are proper 4 wkt taking bowlers and top 6 batters then you can add him as a transitional batter and some1 who can bowl as 5th bowler or provide rest to other bowlers

Some ICFers keep coming up with posts such as "Sundar has got a rock solid technique with the bat. His defensive shots (which actually fetch no runs) are worth gold.  And he should be an automatic selection in red ball cricket played anywhere".

That is utternonsense, Jadeja himself if just plays as batsman has no value.Jadeja has played some important knocks as batsman. This guy is not good enough to tie Jadeja's shoelaces both as a bowler or batsman.

The biggest problem with this guy Sundar, unlike jadeja who kept improving his batting while being very good bowler.

This guy has done nether. If he was serious in becoming test cricketer, he would have gone to Ranji and played as a top order batsman.

He has done relatively well in the chances he got in Tests

There are certain guys who have high ceiling and they don't deliver. In LOI Sundar has a very low ceiling. He cannot go beyond certain  level.  Unfortunately  we always have these malnourished spinning all rounder. Atleast Axar can smash spinners for sixes. Even he has regressed now. We had to bear with Sadeja as finisher for a decade. Yet these morons keep making the same mistake over and over.   This is even worse.

That's exactly his role

We have played with 5 bowlers in Tests for almost a decade now from that time Kohli brought in that structure. He is the No.7 bat and 5th bowler, and has done quite well with clutch performances in that role. Averaging around 45 batting at 7 is insanely good. I don't think anybody else would have deadbatted to a draw in Manchester the way he and Jadeja did, which set up the series draw.

The bowling line up is Jadeja, Washi + 2 quicks + Suthar (in India) / 3rd quick overseas. Suthar will eventually replace Jadeja when he calls quits and another spinner will come in Suthar's place.

India when they were very good overseas as three legit fast bowlers plus Thakur to relieve fast bowlers and Jadeja.

In India they had both Ashwin and Jadeja plus third spinner or fast bowler. Ashwin and jadeja in India were main bowlers.

Guy like Sundar who is nether this nor that does not fit into the team both home and away.He is ruining the team balance .India is ending up with just 4 batsmen to find a place for this useless guy.

They have compounded the problems by turning another useless project Jurel into batsman.

Which team goes into test matches with just two openers and two batsman.

Disagree with this in tests, especially batting. He has played multiple match-saving/match-winning/face-saving knocks when the rest of the line-up was stinking up the joint.

He has also shown glimpses of good test bowling when the rest of the team folded meekly against NZ.

But in LOIs, he has no place.
