rangeelaraja Posted July 25 Posted July 25 Until GC gets justice in India - we will never reach our full potential as a nation. GC being shortchanged is the reason why India has seen such heavy brain drain. This is why most of Indias best talent leaves for foreign shores, while China retains its best talent and builds parallel ecosystems. Lord, Pratik77 and Sgattick10 1 2
Jamadagni Posted July 25 Posted July 25 Okay let’s discuss. Our IT and private sectors don’t have reservations and dominated by GCs. What have they achieved apart from being software coolies to US companies? You talk to any GC software employee and 99.99% are shiit, don’t innovate, don’t have deep level knowledge on any technology and they can replaced by a $20 Claude subscription account. Such is India’s “GC talent”. Vancouver 1

I've said that some of the best GC brains leave for foreign shores, thats why you India's best talent leading the most consequential tech firms and wall street firms. Also you should surely have the common sense to know that innovation requires funding / budget and risk capital as most innovation ventures fail. India's corporate sector has little risk appetite to innovate in R&D. It has less to do with talent and everything to do with an ecosystem that is not conducive to risk taking. Do you understand what you’re blabbering? You read your own post title and the comment you just made. So in short, you’re saying it’s due to the country not having an ecosystem to nurture the right talent. So it’s not reservations/GCs problem, rather it’s dragging down the potential of people from all castes.
Lone Wolf Posted July 25 Posted July 25 (edited) Agreed 100% unless GC's don't raise their voices they will be treated like second class citizens. This Pradhan guy was openly anti GC's and mastermind behind UGC framework and all that social justice hoopla he was constantly pushing. So in a way it's a W for those who stood their ground today as well. Edited July 25 by Lone Wolf Lord and Sgattick10 2

Such is India’s “GC talent”. They have achieved a lot. Let's not discount them. In a third world country with africa level infrastructure and Scandinavian level of taxes they are performing at level required by western organizations. The lack of innovation is a different aspect. It is across all castes. Edited July 25 by kepler37b Sgattick10 1

The OP was most of India's best brains from GC leaving India's shores due to reservation filling up alot of slots. You inserted another topic to this - about the GC lot in India not being able to innovate enough..... They are 2 distinct issues with different root causes and solutions ....but maybe too hard for your brain to comprehend. Edited July 25 by rangeelaraja

I strongly disagree. Alot has improved. Govt services - be it passport, tax filing and returns, utilities, public digital infrastructure has improved by leaps and bounds- and much better than most of developed world. The biggest problems are: 1) Private sector is just focused on near term profits, no appetite for risk capital. 2) Govt rather than subsidizing R&D costs for private sector companies is invested in welfare schemes due to electoral compulsions - creating complacency in vast population that have little incentive to work hard. Most of the start ups doing real innovation are funded by family offices and foreign capital. My company is invested in over a dozen Indian startups including space and renewables -- and all of our co-investors are family offices and others PE firms based in Asia. None of the old money legacy businesses in India have any interest or inclination to partner..

By this time we would have our 6th gen fighter. The nation of lazy asses with a fraction of our population, france, is punching way way higher.

Someone who earns 12 Lakhs in India (which is more than double the median income) pays zero income taxes. Property taxes are also extremely low in India. Compare that to US. Someone who is earning 100K in US (which is double the median income) pays roughly around ~20-25K in taxes, depending on the state. I am not even including things like property taxes which can be extremely high and those property taxes fund schools. Taxes in India are extremely low when compared to taxes in Western world. mishra 1

Those taxes exist every where. US also has sales tax which is around 7-10% depending on State. Europe has VAT which is also pretty high. People just don't realize that taxes in India are pretty low

There are tolls, sales tax/VAT in Western countries too. Tax on cars is probably the only area where taxes in India are high but when you look at overall tax burden per person, its significantly less than Western countries

How is brain drain related here? Best talent goes to US for masters. Even if they had options, very few opt for masters in India. How many top IIT B.Techs choose to do M. Tech in India? Most of them want to do private jobs after masters.
