Sooda Posted August 23 Posted August 23 (edited) It feels unfair on a Kuldeep who is a rhythm and confidence bowler. Needs long spells and should I feel play this test. Even if Kuldeep was poor in the first test and only had himself to blame I am happy for Saransh and this reward for his domestic exploits such as they are, hope he has a great test and career for India. I did feel as a specialist offie he should be given a run , I even think he may be a better bowler than Washington But Saransh had a poor outing in warm up match and was okay, not great for the A team... I don't think he should be playing instead of Kuldeep Edited August 23 by Sooda rollingstoned and tweaker 2
ungboysj Posted August 23 Posted August 23 3 left arm spinner is too much , need a off spinner Suthar has replaced kuldeep not saransh Other than warne there have not been many effective wrist spinner in test cricket and not a single chinaman has done well in test cricket history

Lone Wolf Posted August 23 Posted August 23 Disagree OP... Test match vicories are hard to come by especially for a side in Transition. Trying to give confidence doesn't supports that concept... Kuldeep was given chances. If he was bowling well then he should have been backed... But bowling flat rubbish in Galle was infuriating. Gill was helpless almost. If India has to push for more wins tough calls are the way to go. Jain deserves a look in before BGT early next year Australia will arrive with many more lefties of their own tweaker, express bowling and nevada 3

Ideally Gurnoor, Sarfaraz should have played this test series. It's good to introduce quality youngsters so that no one takes their places for granted express bowling and Lone Wolf 2

express bowling Posted August 23 Posted August 23 1 minute ago, Lord said: No they are clearly allrounders An all-rounder can be a specialist bowler too. "Specialist" means he specializes in that vocation / area. An added skill does not change that. What you probably mean is an exclusive bowler. Norman and tweaker 1 1

Even Shardul isn’t a specialist for Indian team selection because he won’t get in just for his bowling Its an accepted definition. There is nothing like exclusive bowler.

bsriharsha Posted August 23 Posted August 23 Useful short fix. Hopefully he clicks on and plays a part till the home BG trophy matches because we definitely cannot carry kuldeep there Lord 1

And why I raised this point. Shardul will not get in the team for his bowling alone. He played because he could bat a bit in addition to his bowling. While Ashwin and Kapil will get chances as bowlers even if they averaged 5 with the bat. There has to be a demarcation between the two. 1 hour ago, Lord said: Specialist bowler means someone who’s playing for his bowling mostly ts an accepted definition. There is nothing like exclusive bowler. Gemini is new to cricket. Whatever you choose to call them but players can't be put down for having added skills. And this is happening with Saransh and happening a lot with other players with added skills too. They are being dubbed as fake allrounders etc. The only thing to look at here is .... whether they deserve chances due to their primary skill. I am not a fan of Saransh. But I think he has the credentials to replace Kuldeep because both are frontline bowlers .. ( I guess this will be a term acceptable by all ). Edited August 23 by express bowling
vvvslaxman Posted August 23 Posted August 23 Batsmen always get longer ropes, they are always excluded from condition based selection, balance based selection. IT is the bowlers that lose the spot anytime they want to make a left field change.
Nikhil_cric Posted August 23 Posted August 23 The biggest mistake was trying to make Kuldeep a 3 format bowler. Indian cricket needs to get over this rubbish. You can get much more out of players when they are restricted max. 2 formats. BacktoCricaddict and Lord 2
