It is very hard to say who is better as both have some weaknesses and strengths. Rahane is a bit more experienced at the first class level May i say? that is the only difference. Tiwary is somewhat aggressive compared to Rahane. Rahane for some reason gives me the feeling he would get to 30 or 40 and get out. Both have some distance to go unless they show growth like Kohli did.

I think you've that innings in CB series ODIs in your mind. Mitch Jonson, and Brett Lee were bowling at express pace on Gabba pitch that had tennis ball bounce, only Gambhir and Rohit looked like scoring that day. Tiwary was sitting deep inside the crease saving himself from short ball barrage, then Brett Lee slipped one yorker in. Looked awful, honestly. But I think he has good temperament and knows how to play in middle order in ODIs on decent batting tracks. In ODIs he deserves a run now. Can't say about Tests. Rahane was benched in Aus for so long. So I'd have him for this series.

These are Indian conditions. There is no excuse for either of them to fail if they get a chance. At this point i suspect they will even get a chance to play . Pujara, Kohli, Yuvraj, Tendulkar will form the middle order with "we are the best" openers filling the top order.

The batting used to be a strong point but does not inspire much confidence thesedays. Too many are out of form and/or have technical weaknesses. I think they will struggle to put up big scores in the Eng series.

this at home both will do well....right now tiwary with his experince will do great job but away from home rahane will be better choice also i like how balanced he is would look classy in tests

we really dont have the luxury of waiting on some of these guys.Sachin and our openers will be gone soon,we have to throw them in the deep end now rather than later and hope some of them catch on.

Both of them. They play at different positions. Rahane needs to be groomed as an opener or number three, whereas Tiwary is a good candidate for the middle order. The old guard isn't going to be around forever. We need to put the youngsters on the big stage so they can grow as international cricketers.

rahane looked really good in england. hits the ball in the air a little too much for my liking tho. u can't play long innings in test cricket if your groundstrokes arent on.

Yep Rahane looked brilliant in England ODI's in his first overseas games, Manoj looks shaky at times but still needs a chance

^Agreed great attitude. He is very hungry. We should keep him hungry and let him debut at 30 like Mike Hussey. Then hopefully he will get plenty of runs, or he can always be dropped.
