Why are Indian cricket fans so negative ?

Especially people here seem to watch cricket only to criticize the team. When they win, you hardly see anybody appreciate performances or celebrate the win but when they lose, they jump on everybody who has failed and ask them to be dropped immediately. Even a few failures here and there are enough to make fans declare them as failures. Ashwin was labelled only as a limited overs bowler here after England series but he picked the highest number of wickets against Australia. There are even threads like Anti Kohli thread against our own team members. It seems as if most people take out their frustration in their daily lives against the team and hardly anyone is a true fan or a supporter here who genuinely wants the team to do well. You see nothing but bitter negativity and pessimistic views here.

simply bcoz its the only globally recognized sport where we have a stronghold,have an old tradition and have done well,so most people in india are glued to this game exclusively and expect good performances and results..but yeah some fans are OTT

Our Culture is built on Shame and Guilt. We are constantly bombarded to excel.. and feel ashamed when we fall short. It carries over with the rest of the stuff we do in our lives.. :giggle:

One series v Aus is probably all we have to show for in the past 2 years or so. T20s we have failed to reach the semis for 2009,2010,2012. Despite 2012 being in the sub. ODIs apart from the 2011 world cup the last major ODI win was a the commonwealth bank series in 2008. Tests 8-0 says it all. Critic will creep up when the team does perform to the level Indian fans expect it to.

Highly critical are the words you are looking for. India, as a team, are much better than the account they give of themselves. A lot of people on here are rightly against the 1. acceptance of mediocrity 2. hero worship 3. lack of foresight 4. sheer financial greed of the BCCI. We aren't against the team, we simply demand more, which Team India is definitely capable of. Praise is given when deserved.

1.Fans are very impatient.....they like to judge players who haven't even played tests based on some random games 2.fans just hate some players guts....there was a thread on this plAyer which fans were just waiting on to pounce at his very first failure despite him having a more than decent tourney so far. This time I will name names-look at another example of vinay kumar ....has bowled some real economical spells and no one will even mention him or appreciate him for that....the moment he goes for 1 20 run over people will heckle him and call him names....takes 1 game to ruin everything.....at the same time if someone can bowl at 145+....all his sins are excused

this is the internet Mob...its very easy to show the frustration through such anonymous means,hence you see loads and loads of bullshit discussions which will go on forever... like pseudo intellectuals who just keep on arguing at every topic ... half of the people here just want to take on their peers using our Cricketers...they just need someone to rant at... Cant understand why people have to have opinion about everything and want people to follow what they say... Cricketers are just soft targets...I dont even feel they owe anything to anybody in this country...people should actually stop jumping up n down with their frustration like most of the local Indians do...enjoy and forget it...
