FischerTal Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 Sachin Tendulkar 'upset' with CAB going overboard I'm upset you didn't retire at Newlands Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Clarke Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 Been talking to Soniyaji a lot when dropping by Rajya Sabha ? It's generally her business of being upset/unhappy.
Shunya Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 what overboard...I thought this series was organized specially as the biggest farewell of all time...let everyone mint some money
Deleted_User_1 Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Bengalis are always good at ass wiping....no this is no surprise. Seen it all the time growing up in Cal....
fineleg Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 To be fair to Tendu' date=' BCCI arranged and announced the "retirement series", so that he retires against a lesser opponent...[/quote'] Even so, he and board could have agreed about announcing it AFTER the series. Anyhow, SRT knows what would happen if he preannounced, so not surprising that CAB and MCA will milk this event.
diga Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Even so, he and board could have agreed about announcing it AFTER the series. Vijay.Sharma Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 It is not Sachin's fault that others are milking his name. Announcing retirements prior to the series is something that has happened in the past. Saurav did it. Steve Waugh did it. I think both Warne and McGrath did it. Gilchrist did it. Ponting did it before his last Test. Gavaskar did it before the World Cup of 87. Murali did it. The fact of the matter is that Sachin, as an icon, has been way larger than any of the above despite each one of them being an All Time Great (ok with Dada I was going too far). Why blame him? Can we please stop finding faults with him no matter what he does or does not do? Let's just enjoy his last two Tests.
CSK Fan Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Even so, he and board could have agreed about announcing it AFTER the series. Anyhow, SRT knows what would happen if he preannounced, so not surprising that CAB and MCA will milk this event. Why, is it fair to the fans? Is it fair to BCCI? Is it fair to Sachin? Yes, we are all super excited about the pinnacle of cricket, a test series with West Indies Bradman's last test was made into an event and media circus. None of the Aussies were ashamed to pay tribute to what was their finest. And please stop comparing Sachin with Dravid and Sachin
mishra Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 LOL #11.. I have got a lot accurate answers to the favorite ragging question "Guess my State?" That statue looks more like Sachin Chatterjee than Sachin Tendulkar
NareshK Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 He is the greatest cricketer to have played for India and contributed so much to India and has been a hero for a generation of Indians. Nobody should mind a big farewell.
saneindian Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 And despite all the elaborate preparation, a banner above the scoreboard during the team practice read "Sachin'e' Tendulkar" India skipper MS Dhoni pointed out an error in Sachin’s spelling on a banner above the scoreboard during the team’s practice session on Tuesday, Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) officials swung in to action to erase a major cause of embarrassment — an unwelcome ‘e’ at the end of Sachin. “Pehle ye batao Sachin ki naam ki spelling galat kisne likhi? (First answer this: who wrote Sachin’s spelling wrong?),” Dhoni remarked while entering the ground. CAB treasurer Biswarup Dey said: “It is not the skipper’s job to see to this. The error is the responsibility of the agency that was handling the banners. We have issued a show cause notice to the agency. And the banner will be changed.” http://www.firstpost.com/sports/sachine-tendulkar-doesnt-go-down-well-with-dhoni-1211397.html?utm_source=ref_article Response of the CAB secy is hillarious. Jokers, expect them to goof up during the test as well
Sean Bradley Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Its a tough job being a legend in this country, leave he old man alone, let him enjoy his cricket and bid adieu gracefully.
Sean Bradley Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Piyush Chawla crossed with a Bong! This is a cross between Piyush chawla, Akash Chopra and the great himself.:cantstop:
Vijay.Sharma Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 ^^ He has a little bit of Mushfiqur Rahim in him :haha:
Vijay.Sharma Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Damn they really screwed him up with that statue :hysterical: The more I look at it the more hilarious it is
asterix Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 The statue could be the reason Sachin is pi$$ed off...
vvvslaxman Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 In an era of jumping up and down for facebook likes this guy tries to still stay grounded. A fine quality we have seen among players like Dravid, Laxman, Dhoni as well. Hope Sachin just accepts the complements even if it is excessive and enjoys every bit of the moment.

The reason to not pre-announce is not to "deny him a big farewell". It was for his own peace of mind and privacy. Thats ofcourse his choice entirely. In India - you have two choices to make: 1. Relatively quieter last match (relatively speaking) - if you dont preannounce, so he has his privacy and can have some reflective time to himself. He has quiet enjoyment time in last 2 Tests, again relatively. 2. Loud, vulgar, milking and irritating (irritating to SRT himself) CAB/MCA- and no self-reflection space allowed - MEGA GALA farewell. Unfortunately only 1 or 2 possible in India, and SRT should be having the full right to choose which of 1 or 2 he wants and his preannouncement will decide that. 3. Third option - maybe announce it during final session of play in Test 2 - so there is some farewell, but atleast until final session of Test-2 it is relatively quieter enjoyment time for SRT.
Austin 3:!6 Posted November 5, 2013 Author Posted November 5, 2013 Breaking news - There will be 24 commentators for this series. Sehwag, Bhajji, Steve Waugh, Lara, Warne few of them :nice:
fineleg Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Not to mention the enormous distraction when he actually tries to bat in the last 3-4 Test Innings! Crazy amount of distraction which will impede concentration and run scoring.
