At least in one format we might see Virat leading the side on a regular basis. In 2007 when Young Dhoni led team India to the maiden T'20 WC victory, selectors handed him the ODI captaincy permanently. The same thing could happen here with Kohli. So Dhoni fans - Will you be happy if Team India wins the Asia cup under Virat Kohli?

Shunya Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 yes...infact that is exactly the plan...contrary to everyone who thinks Dhoni or selectors are evil...they are doing the right thing by giving Kohli an opportunity to win in subcontinent against teams where we have high chance to win than winning in SA or Aus or Eng...its important that everyone trust Kohli and respect him as captain...that can only happen by winning...and this is the best scenario...

If they can support him while leads the national team from one embarrassment to another, if they can defend his crook ways, his baffling team selections, then the "country first" thing goes out of the window there and then itself. Them Dhongitards can do all dhong and post idealistic lines but that's far from reality.

Besides Rahul refused to play T20 WC thats why dhoni became captain so if Virat wins asia cup i just hope Dhoni does the same.

But as a batsman he is too good in these subcontinental conditions.

Remember 2005 when Chappel dropped Ganguly and appointed Dravid as a skipper, the entire Eden Gardens booed India and supported SA throughout the match. All the admiration/worshiping aside its the team that matter and i would like to believe all Indian CRICKET fans are above it. Yes everyone has this fav player whom they will defend but in the end team win is all that matters.
