Yes, 30% unemployment among Indian men is probably correct estimate. All u need to do is visit small towns and villages. See how many of them are playing cards or chatting in front of tea/pan stall. And after the chat or game, they just return their home.

Apparently the low unemployment rate, below 10%, is based on a person working at least 180 days a year. That's not even half the year!

I always had a suspicion over the low unemployment rate of India, expecting a type of Soviet statistical skulduggery by the Socialist Congressis to hide their incompetence.

30% unemployment plus the rampant underemployment and these dhongee intellectuals expect us to be thankful for them.

As @surajmal said, these clowns are paying attention to the economy only now to lay blame on Modi, but at least we are seeing the truth about the economy. There is a long, difficult road to salvage the Indian economy from what these clowns left it as.

For 6-7 decades they had dhakkans shoved in all the openings of theirs and all of a sudden they woke up, and all they see is Modi, Modi.

Modi is not done yet. I strongly feel he is going in the right direction. Give him 1 more term which is almost a certainty now, and we will have the wheel turned around.

As for this idiot, i always like to ignore him. He is a scholar who lacks balance and wisdom. Such high IQ scholars are useless.

WTF is jai italy doing with cess additions every month? and how can Namo just sit by idly? Middle class is the one assured votebank that BJP has and jai italy is doing his best to push them away.

That loan is for bullet train. If India decides tomorrow, it doesn't want a bullet train, there will be no loan. And considering the terms of the loan, it would be a crime to not take it.

Biggest problem with GST council is giving each state an as equal say as the centre in the name of federalism. State governments' fiscal prudence is legendary. So if you allow them to set the tax rates, they will always vote for higher taxes. Centre (i.e. Namo) needs to put its foot down fast otherwise things could get hairy in 2019... GSTN is already struggling mightily, fu cked up tax rates will make sure recovery is postponed by several quarters

Does India need the Mars program? Technology is greatest investment and no need to be apologetic on such things.

My conspiracy theory regarding GST council - jai italy intentionally fe cked things up knowing full well that a rolling economy would mean dumping of lutyens gang in BJP, post 2019. Namo needs to take the next budget off jai italy's hands, streamline the tax bands and "ensure" states' cooperation during next council meet.

Less than 282 seats plays into D4's hands.

Didn't follow the news, are they going to lay new tracks for the bullet train? If so, ok, but still with so many railway accidents, priority would be to fix it first rather than these showpiece stuff.

What BS is this.  BJP did all in its powers to prevent the UPA from passing GST.  One of the primary reasons is that GST is a net positive for the low-income states, but a non-trivial shift of revenue from the high income states to the Central govt.   Gujarat opposed the GST for the longest, because of this reason.

I have a strong distaste for Congress and their populist self-serving tendencies and policy decisions.  But let's call a spade a spade.

The economy has been ruined by the buffoons from Shakhas running the government. If demonetization was a train wreck, GST is slow poison. It is so horrendously complex that will drive lakhs of SMEs out of business. A tax system is successful if the rates are reasonable and the structure simple. GST is a nightmare, the effects of which are just starting to trickle through.

Firstly, the logistics. The site keeps crashing and can't handle the load. The FM tries to lay the blame on the people for filing at the last moment. Well, duh, that happens with any tax in the world. People file during the last few days. It's human nature, but there is another important point in context of GST and why this is a disaster.

Liquidity. People file at the last minute because they want liquidity in the business. These Shakha buffoons don't know that one of the main reasons for the 2008 crisis was liquidity and since then governments and financial systems try to ensure liquidity. 90k Crores of tax was deposited in the first round of which 60k Crores is input credit the government is supposed to return. Small businesses don't have the kind of liquidity to wait for 90 days for the government to return money. By the time people start getting their money Rs. 200k Crore would have been sucked out of the economy.

Which brings us to the next point, where these Sanghi buffoons will screw things up. They've already started casting aspersions on the large input credit being claimed and said they will investigate these claims. This means a further delay and harrassment. You can't run an economy on the assumption that everyone is corrupt. It has to be the other way round - prove the tax evasion and punish the guilty.

The filing system itself is so horribly complex that only CAs will benefit from it.

The structure itself is asinine and literally hundreds of inconsistencies have been pointed out by people. But besides that it will completely kill small online enterprises. People running small portals to supplement their income, as a dabbling venture, or a hobby will simply not be able to afford the cost of complying with GST.

Of course, GST is but one example of handing over the economy of the country to a bunch of trishul carrying Sanghis. The unfolding Jaypee fiasco is another. There is no provision in the bankruptcy law to deal with assets like real estate which have been given as colateral twice - once by Jaypee and also by the home buyers. According to the law, home buyers aren't entitled to shiiit. Now, we will have another case of judicial overreach where the judiciary will give a whimsical ruling in an effort to cover up a poorly written law. And Jaypee is just the start. If there is any hope to save the banking system in the country, more such companies will need to be brought out. Problem is they have already siphoned the loans and will leave tens of thousands of homeowners in the lurch.

And yeah, the fuel prices. With exports languishing, only a government run from Shakhas will keep fuel prices so high. No economy has seen sustained growth without strong exports. Ever. A strong rupee and high fuel prices is a recipe for disaster. You can't grow an economy and by high taxes and government spending, when it is proven that government has the worst efficiency in spending. I pity the fools who thought they were electing the second coming of Friedman in 2014. This government's economic policies would make Marx proud.

Demonetization impacted the poor the most, the slightly well off and middle class managed through it and sang paens of nation building. The impact will creep up to them soon, it is already starting to with the worst jobs outlook ever and impact on home budgets due to GST. It will accelerate unless the second coming of Milton Friedman prostates in front of Sardarji and begs him to help repair the economy which he has destroyed, because it's obvious by now what the cowshed owners running this country know about the economy.

New Delhi, Sep 21 () A group of ministers, headed by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, today discussed in details the modalities for the strategic disinvestment of Air India, official sources said.

Second in less than a month, the meeting came a week after the government invited applications from entities to act as advisers for the stake sale process last week.

Loss-making Air India is staying afloat on taxpayers' funds and to revive the carrier, the government decided on strategic disinvestment in June.

Land and Labour reforms now will definitely be pushed back until 2019. I am onboard with Swamy's abolish income tax idea - earns immediate goodwill. Also increase capex further with the proposed stimulus. Interest rate cut of atleast 100 bp during next RBI meeting.

Basically, government should be in a giving mood next 1 yr. Forget any new reforms, fix the teething troubles associated with the ones already done. And I don't trust Jai Italy and his bureaucrats with this. PMO needs to be incharge of the economy for the next 18 months.

NPAs have truly fecked the economy. It would be a travesty if some Congis don't go to jail for 10 yrs of uber loot. This is key. Voters needs to be reminded that what await them is a virtual suicide if they go retard with their votes in 2019.

Worst come to worst, Start a war with Bakis.

2019 cannot be lost under any circumstances. Namo, Amit Shah need to prepare for black swan events. I fecking hate the Hindu mindset of crying about their karma when things dont go their way. These are not run of mill elections deciding policy directions. This is existential.

GST was passed unanimously and had the blessings of all. Even the saviour sardarji wanted to pass it in previous terms.

If it had been passed by sardarji, the same lizard would have been frothing at the mouth about its virtues.
