My background is cricket. India Cements got involved in cricket 50 years ago when there was not a naya paisa for cricketers. We employed cricketers. We ran cricket teams in the league and we continue to do so. Not contracts, actual employment. So that [when] he finishes playing cricket, he works. Now India Cements owns the Chennai Super Kings, it is world known, but it is probably the 14th team we are running. Our interest is not because there is glamour in cricket, my interest is not because of the publicity attached to it. We have been supporting cricket passionately, the whole company is full of cricket enthusiasts, somehow or the other. And for 50 years - this is the second generation, my father was interested and I continued it. So this is where I come from, we enjoy watching the league matches together, so it is [as a] complete enthusiast. This part is very much true our Don is not in for just money and power, he really likes the game, guys like Sharad Pawar and Lalit Modi came into cricket after it became big time business not our DON.

Really??? If he really cares about the game so much, then why does his IPL franchise have proxy bookies roaming around with his captain's wife? Quid pro quo.......there is zero altruism involved.....everything is an investment......

What pisses people like him these new guys like Modi , Pawar for who used cricket as vehicle for their riches and fame.This guy also is doing it but it is not just his sole purpose. He owned CSK b4 he became BCCI president what do you want him to do sell it, this nonsense that it is conflict of interest is ridiculous. He is far better than Leech like Pawar. Ask Modi and Pawar to do something about Hockey, it is the national game and no one really bothers about it anymore.why the hell are they not doing anything.

No it's not.......it maybe non-sense to you........but people who want to enjoy a sport without having to doubt every event that happens will obviously have a problem........ Also.........it is neither Pawar nor Modi's job to promote hockey........so I don't know what you are going on about.........
