Razi Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 Players, support-staffs, match officials and fans paying tribute to Phill Hughes during the 4th ODI between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe in Mirpur yesterday. Also, the Tigers have dedicated their win in honour of Phill Hughes and his family! #PutYourBatsOut
Lord Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 Still can't believe it.. :(( I could not sleep yesterday:((
goose Posted November 29, 2014 Author Posted November 29, 2014 A bowler was bowling, and a batsman was just batting, that's why this is so distressing. Both have given so much pleasure over the years, but i'd swap the whole lot to bring him back to life.
BlueBee Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 I cried watching the videos and pics on social media... tears still fill my eyes .. this is awful

Straight Drive Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 I have seen my clubmates losing teeth and even whole jaw due to season ball hitting face. Although i do not remember those incident frequently as almost few decades have passed those incidents are still recalled at times and gives a sad feel. But Life loss is too much to digest forever.
Old guy Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 You watched the videos. I dont even have the guts to watch videos.:(( Trust me don't watch it ....

Cricket will never be the same again.
coffee_rules Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Here's a nice video on Philip Hughes and his family etc. in 2009. Don't miss it, it will tell you why he was so popular. 5dwJsCk4cTs TFS. Was in tears watching the smiling face.
sscomp32 Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Narendra Modi @narendramodi · 6h 6 hours ago Heart-rending funeral in Australia. Phil Hughes, we will miss you. Your game & exuberance won you fans all over! RIP.
goose Posted December 3, 2014 Author Posted December 3, 2014 My word, Clarke's eulogy at the funeral was just perfect in every way imaginable.
YCCC Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 Absolutely heart breaking. My eyes still keep welling up thinking about it, especially watching footage of the funeral, and the put out your bats thing was just lovely and poignant. I posted this on a Yorkshire forum... I'd like to see something good come out of this. A kind of legacy for Hughes. Let this be an opportunity to end all this nastiness and name calling on the field (and in the sanctuary of the pavilion), and threats to break a fellow professional's arm, knock out their teeth or whatever. It's been wonderful to see the cricketing community come together around the world and showing the true gentlemanly nature of the game we love. Keep it competitive by all means, no one wants to see glorified exhibition matches from now on, certainly don't ban the bouncer, but act with more respect to fellow players on the field
Gollum Posted October 30, 2025 Posted October 30, 2025 Similar incident, from Australia. RIP. Tragedy as teenage cricketer Ben Austin dies after being struck by ball during T20 warm-up in Ferntree Gully Lord and putrevus 2
