Miller I can understand but Duminy is not a fluke. Also, today Zim got Amla, ABDV, De Kock, Du Plessis for cheap - may not happen often.

Pitches in CT helped spinners a bit. They were on the slower side even though they were flat. Jaddu helped us win many games. Conditions here wont help spinners. Need wickets from seamers in the middle overs to restrict oppositions. This is a problem area for us. But I agree with you that runs on the board will help put some pressure on the opposition, like what happened today. Our seamers did well today by chipping in with wickets in the middle overs. Have to see if they can repeat it against SA and later against Eng or NZ, Aus etc.

looked at the scorecard.The spinners did not have that much of a say. Umesh Yadav came back well. Obviously winning the toss and putting up 320 plus score is easier said than done.

Watching the highlights of the South African game, their bowling did not seam incisive. Both Steyn and Morkel were down in pace. Din't manage to hurry the Zim batsmen at all. Morkel started off conceding 12 runs in his opening over. Although I expect them to intensify in the next match, I reckon we have faced better quality bowling in the past 3 months. I don't foresee their bowling giving us issues if we don't lose wickets in the first few overs. Tahir and the fifth bowler are not difficult to contend either. It will all come down to their batting which looks really strong with some in form big hitters. If we restrict them to somewhere around 300, I fancy us chasing that down.

Not just Nehra, everyone who batted after Gambhir-Tendulkar. Epic brain farts!! It was one of the most frustrating matches that I have ever watched in its entirety. India were going to setup a huge insurmountable total, then just threw everything away. Then, the bowlers had taken out the top and middle order and with an asking rate very high, one might have thought it was all over....and then Nehra bowled that atrocious over. In the end of course, that result didn't matter as we won the World Cup anyway. :yay:

In many ways, I was reminded of that 2011 Ind-SA match while watching Ind-Pak yesterday in the first innings. At one time, it looked like India was going to get 330 - 340 at least.... And then as it happened, even 300 was a struggle.

Lower order collapses has become par for this tour. 2 times in the tri series India had set themselves up at the 40 over mark but could not make it count.

The biggest problem for India there is that Dhoni has completely lost his touch. When he comes in around 35-40 over mark, he starts playing too defensively. Even when he came in around 45 over mark as in the last match, he hardly managed to hit any big shots (except for the six off a full toss).

And lower order of Jadeja, Ashwin, etc just does not appear good enough to play on Australian wickets.

I badly want to beat them. I can easily remember the 1999 wc game where we were about to win until South Africa showed grit under pressure and came back. That time South Africa was the team which Australia went on to be and became better so it was a great to see INdia putting up fight against them and having chance to win but we could not win. I hope we win this one. I think we have a pretty good chance.

SA has been too strong for India in non-pressure games. At Melbourne, if spinners can do magic tricks, Ind has a chance .... Chances are we will get to see some unorthodox cricket from ABDV and our bowlers could appear clueless

SA is still a better side and this is group game so I think SA are favorites. India can win provided their batting clicks (specially middle) and bowling keep improving.
