Popular Post _Triple_H_ Posted March 15, 2016 Popular Post Posted March 15, 2016 Posting is impossible when there is India's match. There is no fun to wait 30sec-1min before your post appears. Cant keep track of anything. We don't need design, we need speed site. Sincerely Adi_91, sscomp32, Mosher and 7 others 10
bulbul Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 Agree..,.Disconnect/remove video/links/articles or anything which may help.Cricket talk/IPL & Talk politics are more than enough tweaker 1
fineleg Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 Yes previous site design was simpler but faster. Can we get a fast site (with less bells and whistles)? tweaker 1
kosingh Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 Agree. Appreciate the effort that went into the new site, but it just isn't working out. It usually takes a while for users to get used to site redesigns, but it's been many months and we are still not used to it. Moreover the new site technical issues that come up when a switch is made to a new site usually get resolved in the first month or two. But the issues here are just too big to fix. Bring back old site.
sandeep Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 Reverting to old format might be too much work. But definitely a few tweaks to prioritze performance are in order. Not sure what the cause is, Maybe these "notifications"? They are nice, but it might be worth losing if it helps the load time...
PBN Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 (edited) There's no way that a paid software like IPBoard would be this slow out of the box. There's def'n some tweaking needed to optimize it. Or the server just can't handle this resource intensive software. Likely some issues in optimization and server side. Waiting 15sec for a thread to open or post is not a user friendly experience. Users will just get frustrated Edited March 15, 2016 by PBN
asterix Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 It's definitely a shitty server... A very cheap shared server... Nothing else... express bowling, adi B, msplash9 and 1 other 4
PBN Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 (edited) Monetize the site so that it is alteast self sufficient i.e covers operating costs for the server, competition prizes, etc with Adsense, Affiliate marketing, etc. There's huge potential to tap into with probably the most famous indian cricket forum website. No harm in monetizing to cover basic costs. At the moment, it's just a painful user experience and will only deter fans from posting or coming to the site. Migration will happen if it already hasn't. Users would rather see an ad than waiting 15 sec for a thread to load or for the post to be saved. Edited March 15, 2016 by PBN addition G_B_, adi B and MK55 3
HippoSucks Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 I think the administrators cited some security issue for moving to this new platform. I would prefer moving to something more simplistic that works much faster, even if it means losing some features like notifications and upvoting posts. beetle and adi B 2
Popular Post Asim Posted March 16, 2016 Popular Post Posted March 16, 2016 after clicking "submit reply" it takes 20-40 seconds to post... itni dair mai to Afridi ki puri inng end ho jati hey yar... Adi_91, Lannister, adi B and 8 others 11
Ultimate_Game Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 Gotta say that the old site was better both in terms of performance and look & feel. Asim, tweaker, adi B and 1 other 4
sourab10forever Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 I don't know why so many guys have this problem. Its fine for me on PC. Yes some 1 in 15 posts takes a while to appear after submitting but what I noticed was that once if the "submit reply" button is clicked the post is submitted regardless of it showing then and there or not. Just reload the page and the u'll see that the post is already there. tweaker 1
sourab10forever Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 Actually our site is much better than any other forum in terms of standard. The GUI is neat . Only if we can solve a few problems and get a good banner in atleast for WT20 then it should be doing fine. The crowd is slowly back too. Adi_91, New guy and tweaker 2 1
renjith Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 (edited) PHP 7 was released few months back. It is said to handle double the traffic compared to earlier versions. Not sure if its feasible to upgrade to that version. Will depend on whether the forum being used is compatible with PHP 7 and also if the hosting provider supports it. msplash9 Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 It is sad that the premium cricket fan forum of the richest cricketing country is worst compared to pakistani or even bangla cricket site. I don't think the problem is with new version , like asterix said its just "A very cheap shared server" tweaker 1

But quality of posts, speed etc pak and bangla forums are way aheadThe standard I meant was with respect to the graphics and layout. And I don't expect Bangladesh and Pakistan to be "Way ahead" in terms of quality as well even though I am not a member of any .The quality and quantity did go down due to update but we'll be back soon. So can't comment too much on that. But Paki one is way way ahead.
