sandeep Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 Dropping Ashwin is a risk - but Jadeja clearly is our #1 test bowler at this point. He plays every test if fit no matter which venue. I would go with Ash over Mish for the 1st test and then re-evaluate if necessary. Rahul over Dhawan is tempting. Dhawan likes the ball coming on the bat, and the windies pitches are on the slowish side, and he may struggle. For test 1 though, I would keep Chet on the bench and play Rahul @ 1 down. Dhawan Vijay Rahul Kohli Rahane Saha Jadeja Ashwin Bhuvi Yadav Ishant Bhuvi is a better option than Binny any day - and he can bat almost as good as Stu. Looking at our team, Saha is a big-time weak link @ #6 - he either needs to start putting up some 50+ scores soon or I would rather bring back Dinesh Karthik for a couple of seasons.

Jadeja has done jack outside of Asia.He has no place in the team except on turners in India. Rather have Mishra and Ashwin who put on lot more revs on the ball and can turn it more. Vilander 1

If you want Mishra, then would go with Ash instead of Jadeja - not a bad idea to have these 2 since the windies don't play spin that well. But the kind of wickets we see in Windies these days, they are almost perfect for Jaddu.

Adi_91 Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 I don't think Mishra did well in the practice games. Did he? Ashwin should play along with Jaddu. In fact, Jaddu should be the one who should be dropped if he doesn't do well in the first test.

V Kohli A Rahane W Saha R Jadeja/Sammi Ashwin A Mishra I Sharma U Yadav if its a spinning track ..jaddu plays and if its a pacy track then Shammi. ashwin n Mishra are my first choice spinners and ISHANT & umesh are my first 2 pacers and with Shammi as 3rd.

vishalvirsingh Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 kl Rahul, Pujara and Murli Vijay are really slow batters in a test match ...if the bowling goes one level Up..these guys have the capability to score at 2 runs an over for 60 overs...we cant be playing all the three together in the 11. india has to target to score at 3.5 runs an over to win in a Test match too if they wanna WIN or else Wi will save the test match. virat and rahane may find it tough to score at a brisk rate if all these 3 score 50's in 150 balls each. there are very high chance that these 3 could score a 50 each too...but yes if these 3 will play together windies have great chances to draw the match. Beauty of a Test Match is that Many So called experts think that Test means dig in and PLAY SLOW but the winners don't do that. wining team has to not only score more runs then the opposition but also score runs at a faster rate and give their Bowlers a Chance to get opposition Batsman OUT. if the bowlers don't get enuf opportunity the match turns into a DRAW.... so I am against playing Pujara, Rahul and Murli together 2 of the 3 are enuf.
