Austin 3:!6 Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 Lets face it, Saha is not even that great with gloves either. Rahul is a fantastic batsman but struggling to find a place in playing XI due to packed batting line up. Now imagine if Lokesh improves his wicket keeping skills, we get a solid WK batsman in our line up. Dhawan Vijay Pujara Kohli Rahane Rahul Ashwin Jadejar Shami Umesh Ishant Now this looks much better line up as opposed to with having a liability as Saha. Is Rahul good enough to dawn the wicket keeping gloves? Surely the coach can work in this direction to improve his skills for betterment of Indian cricket. tweaker 1
Adi_91 Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 Already we burdened a certain "Rahul" in ODIs making him do the wicketkeeping job. Now, not with this Rahul again. Saha is lucky for sure as TINA factor is strongly in his favor. Garuda, tweaker, sscomp32 and 1 other 4
Mosher Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 Rahul as a keeper might work in T20's or ODI's but not in test cricket, unless he improves his keeping drastically. As of now Rahul is not a good keeper. He is still in his early stages as a batsman in international cricket and should concentrate only on his batting for now. adi B, Garuda, Ankit_sharma03 and 1 other 3 1
Ankit_sharma03 Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 (edited) Its a bad idea, cricket is not played on paper. 1. we already struggling with openers, Dhawan technique n consistency is already under question. Imagine if vijay gets injured before a major tour who will open. A keeper cant open in test. 2. Part time keepers are always a bad idea, We could have done that with dravid also n adjusted an all rounder or young yuvraj, kaif, badrinath, tiwary those days but it was a bad idea. 3. Uthappa is a prime example the guy has been trying to be a keeper yet he is rubbish behind stump in short formats forget long. 4. Keeping not only requires net practice but match practice, where would he do match practice being a India regular. his state side already has issue with uthappa n Cm Gautam 5. Abdv n Sangakara left keeping at test level to become better bastman so should be the case with Kl Rahul. Let him focus on one skill. 6. Lets not sacrifice KL rahul the batsman coz we dont have a keeper. Lets find a better keeper batsman. To be honest Saha is avg with bat and bloody gud with keeping. His keeping would come in real handy in home series on those rank turners. At this point he is like horses for courses. 7. Our batting has loop holes so we need gud batsman as well. Also imagine KL rahul dropping a crucial catch at crucial situation. Its not easy to keep on rank turner and even in england. Remember how dhoni struggled in Eng on his 1st tour despite being a regular keeper. We Need Kl Rahul the batsman, lets find a better keeper batsman Edited July 31, 2016 by Ankit_sharma03 Garuda, adi B, tweaker and 1 other 4

Sanju doesnt even keep for kerela so that is out of question.
express bowling Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 Saha has kept very well against pacers. Only in the last test, he touched the Indian record of 6 dismissals in an innings. He has collected a lot of deliveries far away from him, both on the off side and the on-side. Even his keeping against spinners has been better in this series. To win test matches, taking wickets is the most important thing. We cannot have bowlers doing the hard work only to see the keeper missing catches. Part time keepers won't do. Bigg Brother Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 cause most who wanted dhoni out of the test side now realize we dont have anyone who can remotly come close to him Most who wanted Dhoni out of the team because of the captaincy not because of his batting although he was mediocre test batsman but best by our standard. It is not like that we have lost any matches in recent past due to less contribution from Saha's bat..His keeping is good and like Kohli has already said,Saha will get long run!! Also his keeping against Sa on those rank turners were simply oustanding. He did score 2-50s in Sl in 2 test which is quite decent and his 20-30 may look small in Sa series but they were crucial n gutsy . Silva Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 (edited) Well no matter how good the team might look on paper having a mediocre wicket keeper is one of the easiest ways to lose test matches. Although I never really seen Lokesh keep enough to tell how good or bad he is. Saha IMO has been very good so far. Edited July 31, 2016 by Silva express bowling 1

sourab10forever Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 He is terrible with the gloves by international standard. Big fan of his but I have no problem in saying it out.... neither does he. He can be a back up keeper if saha is injured but will not be the first option...at least for now.

Dhawan...easy decision Or play 4 bowlers. Unfortunately we cannot have all the luxuries. We have to sacrifice and find the middle path. adi B 1
Texan Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Not sure if Rahul's keeping is up to the mark for Test matches, but as far as Saha is concerned, he really needs to pull up his socks. He has now got a fair run in the team and it is high time he provides some returns in the form of runs. With the 5-batsmen strategy, it is even more important to have a keeper who can contribute regularly with the bat, ideally averaging about 40, but will take anything 35+. At the moment, Saha doesn't even give his captain enough confidence to bat ahead of Ashwin. G_B_ 1
G_B_ Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 I dont think so... Will have to bat down the order is he is to Sent from my Wileyfox Swift using Tapatalk
MCcricket Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Saha is a good keeper n a gritty batsmen, dunno why people R targeting him over a period he will bat better then the rabbit Dhoni, especially in Test n abroad or on a good track. Main question is how will we get rid of Dhawan in test n same for Rohit, our line up should be Vijay Rahul Pujara Kohli RAHANE Ashwin Saha Shami Umesh/Aaron/BK/Sran Mishra/K Yadav/Jadeja Ishant Pandya/M Pandey/Jadhav/Nair
CoverDrive Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 People who want a half baked keeper forget Parthiv Patel. We could have had a series win in Aus if not for him.
