KS bharat is one guy who i liked and he opens as well so believe he would have a compact technique if not atleast better than most. But currently Naman ojha looks to be the best option. Pant debut at test level looks a distant dream right now. We have 1 yr and half before Sa tour but anyone coming in picture till that time looks like a miracle. Batsman-spinner 1. Deepak hooda- The guy can bat well, i dont why he doesnt take his bowling seriously. Bowls really less in domestic which wont help him develop his bowling. And ashwin being our main spinner makes his case as an off spinner not much of use. 2. Shreyas Gopal - IF this guy work really really hard on his batting , his leg spin can be a huge huge asset of Indian team. 3. Manoj Tiwary- Ok the most craziest option of mine. He is someone who can be really hand in India. His leg spin has been rewarding at time and he is an old domestic player who plays spin really well unlilke our main batsman these days. At 6 he might be an intersting option on rank turners. He is also an excellent fielder. Overseas i have no faith in his batting against pace. But i dont see him getting a chance. 4. Axar patel - I feel he can bat but has to improve his batting a lot . Good thing is he is in Mix . 5. Krunal pandya- Is someone with his pacy darter can be destructive with ball on rank turners and with bat can take game away in no time . Against Pace in overseas m not sure about his batting neither his bowling 6. Yuvraj singh- The ship sailed away long time back 7. Gurkeerat- Just didnt step up his game 8. Parvez rasool- His batting has improved a lot and bowling gone down, again with ashwin there 2 off spinner that to in overseas might not be a great option. Also looks off selectors radar. 9.Raina- Hahahahahahahahahaha......... 10. Rohit- In his dreams he is muralitharan with bowl and bradman with bat. I have seen Vijay shankar and some how makes me feel he will struggle against balls that are pitched up, specially Sa n eng bowlers would get him out LBW a lot. His bowling i have heard he is a 110-120k bowler but m not so sure about it. In such scenario if there is someone that India misses most is ganguly and ruin that Irfan and yuvi have lost it. Only serious option is Saxena.... His off-spin has improved many folds in the last season and he is a opener
sandeep Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 I cant believe that Krunal Pandya's name gets thrown into a test allrounder discussion. Or Manoj Tiwary. While Hardik Pandya's doesn't. Too crazy.

For me, Hardik is always in contention for LOIs as of now. For him to be ready for test matches, he needs to play more FC.
putrevus Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 To call Shastri an allrounder is bit too much, he never had skill as a bowler to win matches. Kapil would have been much better batsman had he gotten any support in bowling, it took so much out of him being the only good bowler on a very weak bowling attack. Ashwin is fine but his batting needs to be shown confidence by captain. If he fails few times he cannot be jettisoned behind Mishra. It is great move by Kohli to make him no6 , hope Ashwin becomes very competent no 6 again good team too.
maniac Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 @fineleg how about genuinely talented and aggressive batsman who can bowl quality offspin On Topic genuine allrounders do not come by everyday and so are keeper-batsmen like Gilly,Boucher,MSD We need a very good keeper and a very good bowler who can bat-Right now Ashwin fits that criteria and I am told Saha is the best technical Keeper in the country,so it's not that bad velu 1
mishra Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 We need NOT a midget Tendulkar. He could bowl better than Shashtri.

Tendulkar could turn his leg spinners as much as Shane Warne. It is a pity that his responsibilities as our main batsman did not give him sufficient time to practice his spin bowling. Mosher 1

In India mostly 5th bolwer is always remained unused, manoj tiwary has been a decent leg spinner and has won 1-2 man of matches with it so he can give u those very few over but main reason for having his idea was coz he is old ranji player who knws how to play spin well. Do i need to tell how our batsman are struggling with spin and then he is also a huge asset on field so its just an option. Now krunal again for home series, as we have seen him bowl darters, he can be very effective on rank turners as the ball turn own its on and the faster it is bowled the more difficult it is to face it. His batting has been way better than jadeja or axar and is someone who can take game aaway in a lil time. So he is also a option for just home series. No one is talking about taking them overseas. They are just Horses for courses types. As far as hardik is concerned i rate him as the potentially best all rounder we have. tweaker 1
tweaker Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 selectors could have tried Jatin Saxena in A team.He is opener for MP & is regular offf spinner for them.He had a fairly successfull domestic season last year. Selectors could have also tested young wk batsman Sheldon Jackson,Ankush Bains ,Adita Tare in the A team. Adita Tare had a fairly good domestic season & he was the best in wk category in Ranji season last year. express bowling 1
