sourab10forever Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 No matter who did, why does it always have to be a batter's mistake? Why were the batter's forced to make mistakes? Because of the bowler. Why cant a bowler bowl well? Are they machine that they don't have the right to do well and only here to get smacked by the batsman. Bumrah did really well in last 2 overs of his bowling but we are crediting him instead of blaming the west indies batters for being incompetent? Bravo is a brilliant death bowler and he has done it before with indian team and he did it again. Just accept the fact bravo induced mistakes, when this becomes too frequent then we have a problem. The problem was with dhoni's approach...took it to the last ball unnecessarily. Looking for singles in the last over when he knows that singles add pressure.
Malcolm Merlyn Posted August 28, 2016 Author Posted August 28, 2016 He isn't in the team for that. What is he in the T20 team for then?
sourab10forever Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 What is he in the T20 team for then? To give a decent opening partnership to a hard hitting Rohit...the same role he been playing in the IPL. Even I am not convinced of him being in the team...but since he is..that is his role and the captain is expecting only a 45(35) type of knock and not a 70(35) dhoni last 9 balls= 8 runs+1 lb ,rahul last 9 balls= 22 runs+ 1 wide and 1 lb There it is...clearly shows why we lost from a winning position. beautifulgame Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 He did connect those well but straight to fielders. Thing is Dhoni didn't try to hit and was just trying to finish in 1s and 2s. That's not really true . Dhoni did try a boundary in the first ball which induced an edge and which Samuels dropped . Even the fifth ball that we got couple was a big shot .He just couldn't connect it , that was the problem not that he wanted to take it to the last ball. sscomp32 1

All i am saying is blaming one player is ridiculous. Its from binny to rahane shouldn't forget their contribution as OP pointed out. Dhoni knows Bravo better than most.He knew Bravo was going to bowl the last over.He as a captain should have planned for it. 8 of 6 were required. It should not have gone to the last ball. express bowling 1
beetle Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 People are upset because it is not a one OFF ...taken to the last ball match .It has happened with Dhoni too many times and has almost become his signature ending. This happens too often. He has to realize he is no longer the finisher he was .He has to come higher up and give the role of finisher to someone else. This match was difficult and and they almost got there. Even if Dhoni tried his best...because it has happened so often in the past,it looks like he let his overconfidence and last ball heroics take over. nevada, express bowling, Bigg Brother and 2 others 5

He depends on his partners to go after the bowling and quitely accumulates and maybe go after the weak link in between. His game is suited to chase a score of 140-160, not a total in the range of 200 where the modern T20 is headed. velu and tweaker 2

Teams should chase as if there is 1 over less. Last over should be for emergencies. But in Ind's case, we have seen the team take it to the last over (or even last few balls) so many times express bowling and tweaker 2
zep1706 Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 I still don't get what Dhoni was trying to do in the 18th over. I get it that Bravo is a good bowler but with so many wickets in hand and so many runs to get there was no option but to attack him a little. Taking it to the last ball is not always a great idea. Crazy things happen in the last over. Texan, velu, Lannister and 4 others 7

Texan Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 Seeing so many posts about Bravo being such a brilliant death overs bowler and unplayable blah blah. What do the same folks think about Neville Madziva?

Bravo did well, but really binny junior was the difference. velu 1

A better player or even Dhoni 5 years ago would have easily won the game despite the bowling. 8 off 6 is usually a walk in the park in this day and age and especially so when you have already whacked 230+ off 19 overs, have a guy batting on 100+ at the other end and have 7 wickets in hand. That shot off the last ball was of a man who was a nervous wreck having similarly squandered an opportunity against Zimbabwe. This guy has completely lost his mojo by over complicating the T20 game and his tactics of taking the match to the final over, which used to yield amazing results in the past have now turned disastrous! If Bravo is an exceptional T20 death bowler, are we saying that Madziva is also a once in a generation T20 20th over expert? Edited August 31, 2016 by Texan

Last ball was a low full-toss type in the off. Maybe Dhoni was not very good int he game but i honestly dont get the but about him loosing mojo etc, 1 run loss is difficult though to handle as an outsider.
