Views on Manish Pandey

I think he should be sent at #4. He has squandered a few chances he got to bat in this series. But send him at 4, and give him another chance in final ODI.

Dhoni will continue to play himself at 4... So, Pandey has to play at 5..

Too early  for  informed views on  Manish Pandey, either negative or positive.

 

He has potential to succeed in the middle order in LOIs....that is about it.

Perfectly capable at the international level. Carries himself in the Kohli mould in terms of confidence which can only be a good thing.

 

His dismissal to get out today was probably the wrong shot selection but a few inches more elevation and everybody would have been saying what a great shot. 

 

More than happy to give him further chances.

He needs just one big knock to feel secure. Right now he's fighting for his place. The 3rd odi was perfect with Kohli doing so well. Too bad the kuptaan stole the limelight and came to bat early on a pretty good pitch.

Bat him at 4 , or opening batsman. #5 too low for his type of batting

Rohit yes because he can score very quick in any ground after settling in. Rahane no because he just doesnt have the power

Who is his replacement at No 4 or 5.....Rahul and Dhawan are genuine openers and Rohit is for now the sure-shot starting opener.....unless Rahane is pushed to the middle order slot,he is pretty secure at least for now given his average after first few games. Raina will replace Jadhav

 

I rather stick with him than going back to Yuvraj Singh or Raina

The only reason Rohit is in the team is cos hes opening . if he comes after the field is spread , teams will just choke him .

Not really....He has been most destructive from overs 30 onwards when he is set....yes it is a flaw that he might take a little extra time to get set,but you can't deny that once set no matter how much the field is set he can become unstoppable and no boundary can be too long.

We are talking like Rohit Sharma is some Viv Richards, he is a one trick pony and if that trick is over, he is worse than a tailender. Yes for now he has a longer rope in ODIs, but if he continues the middling performances that rope will run out.

The guy has earned his right to cautious starts as he has shown what he can do when he is set....that is the simple risk to reward theory.

hmm needs to be backed, has earned that. But i have issues with his consistency. He i feel will score plenty of 100s but also be out in single figures.

 

He has been dropped from what I remember from his IPL franchise plenty of times cause of these consistency issues. One hopes it was down to youth. Cause he does the ability.

Dhoni is clueless when it comes to blooding new players. He kept Rahane carrying drinks for over a year before he got a proper run in the team as prefered the cooking skills of Rayudu.

 

Likely Pandey will have to dance the same tune for the Old Man.
