fineleg Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 (edited) Rather than strangle England when they are a bit nervous at start of the series, Rajkot has rolled out a Red Carpet welcome to England team where the English batsmen have had time to get acclimatized and feel more confident for rest of their series. India/BCCI/Curators have missed the trick. No visiting team centuries in India for 2+ years and now we have 3 Eng centuries in ONE innings in Indian pitch! Will the team get what they want, or curators do whatever they want (plus "soil/rain" conditions)? Vizag ? Mohali ? (seamers pitch!? if so, England will have a distinct advantage and Jimmy Anderson plans to be back at Mohali) What about Bombay and Madras pitches for T4 and T5 ? Which of Vizag, Mohali, Bombay and Madras can give TURNERS to support Ashwin and Jadeja to run through? Edited November 11, 2016 by fineleg
narenpande1 Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 Fineleg, Don't expect much when we have snakes in our midst. The English media and commentary is already applauding " England comeback " on " subcontinential dustbowls" when we actually handed them a belter. Whether or not we prepare favorable pitches - we will always get accused of doing so (as if its a crime) This is why we will always be gross underachievers in terms of results. We just don't have the ambition or drive to whitewash opponents - I believe Kohli does, but we have too many snake ex captains and affluent people who work against our own interest.

How about not dropping 5 catches if you don't want to be under achievers?. How about showing up in each morning session with fire in the belly and making something happen?. Top teams don't whine about the track, they show up and get it done. And neither should their fans. As long as we bat well the next 2 sessions, we can still win this test. I believe that can still happen. Why the premature chest beating about shortcuts not taken ? It's not enough for me anymore for my team to run up the score on favourable tracks whether that's justified or otherwise. I think we have a team now that can win without that and view it as a positive that they got to practice that and prove it. If that makes me a "snake" in the eyes of the likes of you, so be it. philcric, express bowling, Iconoclast and 2 others 5

fineleg Posted November 11, 2016 Author Posted November 11, 2016 Lets move aside from snakes and ladders discussion. Just practical discussions on pitches at Vizag, Mohali, Bombay and Madras pls. sandeep 1

fineleg Posted November 13, 2016 Author Posted November 13, 2016 (edited) Kohli unhappy with grass on pitch at Rajkot. Kohli began by expressing his thoughts on the pitch. "I was quite surprised to see that much grass, to be honest. It should not have been the case." http://www.espncricinfo.com/india-v-england-2016-17/content/story/1066124.html Edited November 13, 2016 by fineleg tweaker 1

Well he is loads better than the previous regime who would start bowling someone like Raina(that would be equivalent to Kohli bowling Vijay this mtach) so the opposition can declare early and he can go and sip tea in the dressing room. fineleg Posted November 13, 2016 Author Posted November 13, 2016 What is with the mindless rant abt kohli in every post/thread. I wish it can be moderated and deleted.

He just made a record for 1st highest partnership for england LOL couldn't pick a single wic on Day 4 last was in 1999 he has no idea and a chicken when put under pressure.. Did i forget to add Dropped Vijay and pujara < mr. TAILENT sharma. Sacrificing his batting position for sharma. And misused mishra jee. Black days for IND cricket has began Unlike the previous regime who kept doing the same process over and over again, the current regime seems to learn from their mistakes. That was only temporary and it seemed to work out well for Pujara and Indian cricket. He didn't misuse Mishra ji. Mishraji is crap. He overused him you can say that but I guess you would have to sacrifice your kidney to give some praises. Kohli is not perfect. Not even close. But way better than the previous regime and his last 4 years. Mosher 1
fineleg Posted November 29, 2016 Author Posted November 29, 2016 We have been giving England "sorta neutral" pitches so far. For Test 4 Bombay and Test 5 Madras - hope we get some turners. How have the pitches been thus far in these two places in the last year (domestics...)

Vijy Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 Would be good if pitches turn more, but not excessively.
Cricketics Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 I am fine with same pitches as the previous tests where spinners are already taking wickets and seamers are having a good run too.
fineleg Posted December 8, 2016 Author Posted December 8, 2016 (edited) England will give us tough to bat (for Indian batsmen) pitches when we tour them. But here India still has not put the bloody English batsmen on a rank turner!?? Why are our curators not making England life miserable??? Edited December 8, 2016 by fineleg
philcric Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 What's the series scoreline again? The series has been very interesting so far. Good contributions by pacers, spinners and batsmen. Quality of cricket has ben pretty good. Is this not why we watch cricket, test cricket in particular? Stop whining about the pitches and the curators and enjoy the cricket contests between two good teams. express bowling, Laaloo and sandeep 3
sandeep Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 In a way its good England won the toss on this one. Else the game would be over in 3 days and change if we had batted first. And I love the fact that they can't make the toss excuse after winning 3 out of 4 tosses. Still getting comprehensively beaten. And our team is getting used to winning games from unhelpful positions.

This could be different - India seems to have mental block because of that Udal match, and then KP.

Mental blocks can be over-hyped. But its undeniable that our batting has a brittleness to it these days - How many times can you expect Ashwin and co. to bail us out anyway? I'm hoping that the openers come through and we get a good chunk of runs from the butterfingers combo of Pappu-Nair. Yes, I'm being harsh on Karun but that was a gettable catch at gully that he dropped when Jennings was on a duck. Everyone understands that India need to score 50 odd more than England in the 1st dig to keep a win alive, and it really will boil down to the top 3 - if they combine to put up 250, we will be OK. If not...
