maniac Posted November 17, 2016 Posted November 17, 2016 We have a criteria when picking batsmen...we are all excited for Pant,Kishan and Iyer's of the world based on their averages and S/R,which means we are looking at actual performances. when it comes to bowlers we seem to get excited when we see any bowler who can hit 140K's as we have burnt our fingers with the one's who have had outstanding stats in the past like the Vinay Kumar,Unadkat,Rishi Dhawan,Pankaj Singh's of the world,so it is fair enough. But this thread is about maintaining a middle ground...who are the fast bowlers who seem to have skills, pace and at the same time have returns to show for their performance? No Sarcastic Vinay,Unadkat references please. Look at Bhuvaneshwar Kumar-He was a good FC performer but a typical 125-130K medium pacer but he was able to sustain at the international level woth some good performances and is one of our Top 3-4 fast bowlers in the international side. I keep hearing about Nathu Singh and some other aira-gairas that they can hit 140-150 but who are the fast bowlers who have not been tried yet who are actually performing? Some names would be interesting tweaker and SUMO 2

Pankaj Singh was ordinary and that was for everyone to see,but for being a consistent workhorse deserves may be 1 more shot...If Vinay Kumar got so many chances why not? may be 1 or 2 more. Need to reward performances and then add things like pace as an add on criteria....None of the so called 140K pacers listed...maybe Rajpoot who seems to have a decent FC record prior have anything to show for....and if they are missing out games in domestics, what guarantees that they can get through rigours of a 3 test series leave alone 5, I love pace as much as anyone on here but a guy bowling 140+ without brains is as much as a trundler as a guy who is 125k without any skill. tweaker 1
The Realist Posted November 17, 2016 Posted November 17, 2016 Gone are the days when spinners used to rule the roost in India. The quick-men have taken over. We have heard of fast bowlers hunting in pairs and we have seen some lethal bowling combinations in the game of cricket. In the Indian domestic circuit too there have been several bowlers who have done well in partnership to win their team laurels. For treble title-defenders Karnataka, they have a pack of three which has consistently delivered for its team for the past couple of seasons. Texan Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 Looking at the way Pankaj keeps getting wickets and plugging away, I sometimes wonder if we have been wrong about his capabilities. He was given a chance in England but hasn't played a single Test at home. Sometimes some bowlers who have played a lot of domestic cricket have moulded their bowling twchnique to suit Indian conditions and are better suited at home. Both Srinath and Kapil averaged around 26 at home but 33 away. Perhaps he deserves at least one or two chances at home. tweaker 1
