Both India and England Need Changes

India

I feel we need an extra batter in there. Rahane is not in the best of form and the openers facing Anderson will always have issues. Saha has had a poor series. I feel we need to drop Saha and let Lokesh keep and push him down the order. Bring in Nair as the batsman. India with the bat atm are heavily dependent on Kohli with good hands from Che Vijay and Ash in support.

England

Plenty of changes needed. Broad wont play in Mohali due to injury. Ansari too has a bug and has hardly bowled. Similarly Duckett I think is just not suited for India yet. I expect Woakes to come in for sure. Toss up between Ballance/Butler for a batting spot is Anzari replaced. Not guaranteed  England will play 6 bowlers. I think England will add another batsman

Please share your batting order and be specific.  I can understand the frustration with Saha and looking to drop him, but you want to move Lokesh Rahul down to what position? 3-4-5 is locked as those are slots for the pillars of Indian current test team. Then where do you want to put Rahul "down the order" And regarding Nair, so you will have him open the batting?

Sir

Jayant/Umesh (depending on the pitch, but mostly Jayant)

Bhuvi

Umesh

Whats worrying from the Indian fan POV is that we seem to be collapsing a lot. Rajkot first innings 164/6 is how we finished. In this test also we finished 120/6 and 87/7, so we are collapsing into a heap which implies an extra batter is needed.

Bhuvi will be a better bet in the colder north which can extract more swing. Its the same reason why England are looking to go with swing bowlers. Umesh has not really done anything in this series.

That extra batter was taken care of well by Ashwin-Jayant who both scored well in the test match. We had 2 games where our regular bats have struggled a bit, and that is why many are feeling we are a batsman short, but if you really focus on the scorecard, you will see that the no. 6, 7 is actually performing, the place where that extra batsman comes.

It is Saha who has failed along with few bad performances in the middle order or by opening pair.

Get used to this if we need to win test matches away from home. Kohli, is doing absolutely right here by playing extra bowler who can bat in place of a regular bat, as he is developing this side in such away, our top order takes responsibility of scoring most runs. This is just the starting stage.

I think the same team will play the next test. We are currently one batsman short but cant see them dropping Saha and have Rahul keep wickets to accommodate Nair . First thing, keeping wickets in tests is a specialist job and Rahul is not even a regular keeper in ODIs. When ball starts to spin and bounce, you can be rest assured he will miss a few. Also Rahul is an opening batsman as well. Its very tough to keep wickets and then open the innings. Also I cant see Rahul demoted to 6 and have Nair open the innings. I dont think they will make such drastic changes within 1 test.

With Jayant proving to be a decent batsman, I think they will retain him as the third spinner as he can contribute with the bat with Ashwin also doing a good job as an all rounder.

If Bhuvi is fit, he will come in for Umesh

No, he wont until the pitch is green.

If the pitch is the normal mohali wicket low and slow, I do not see any changes.

The who broke Stokes-Bairstow partnership in the first innings?

Our top 5 is best in the country and all quality at the moment. we are 1 batsman short but ash-jayant-jaddu (want a quick fire 50 from him) will take care of that.
england will bring in woakes for ansari and butler for duckket. broad will be fit I guess.
anderson-broad-woakes-rashid-ali will be very good attack for mohali

And who did nothing else afterwards?

Bhuvi for Umesh is the only probable change. OP is suggesting too much chopping and changing for a team that has just won by 250 runs.

ask any England player who would they want to face on such a pitch BK or Yadav! You will know who to play.

Has Yadav done enough to keep out someone who has picked 2 fifers in last two tests he played? When was the last time Yadav picked up a fifer btw?
