Cricketics Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 This team managed to put up 700runs without the contribution of 3 of our recent Test Stalwarts - Rahane, Pujara and Kohli. Adding to that, Vijay, who is also one of the most capped player for India in current team also did not have any massive contribution in this innings. New guys like Rahul and Nair scoring runs, I mean big runs, means Indian batting will remain at the Top of the world for a long long time. These knocks of double hundred and a triple hundred will only raise the bar for all the top Ranji players. They know that they have ro be really special or do something very consistently to get a call up in the Indian team. This is not any "Airi-Gairi" batting line up. This is the best batting line up in the world, and will remain for the years to come. Sidhoni, G_B_, coffee_rules and 3 others 6
Unleashed Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 Exactly. Our 4 best batsmen contributed(including Rahane who's injured) 70 runs in a total of 750 which is fairly incredible. When was the last time we had such batting depth? I'm very, very confident that this batting lineup will do well abroad. They're special. tweaker and Cricketics 2
express bowling Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 Another good thing about this batting lineup is that all the specialist batsmen, apart from Rohit, have proper batting techniques. Kohli, Rahane, Vijay, Pujara, Rahul and now Karun....all have games based on proper batting technique. Mosher, tweaker and Vilander 3
G_B_ Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 competition.... be it between Jayant and Sir Be it for the opening slot Be it for the middle order. Thats the hallmark of any good side. Cricketics, tweaker, sandeep and 1 other 4
Malcolm Merlyn Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 Competition is a good thing. Now lets win tommorow. tweaker 1

Everyone taking their chances, if not in their first appearence, at least learning and improving and ensuring they perform eventually in their second or third chance.
kosingh Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 Big gain from this series is that we no longer need to shuffle between Rohit, Dhawan, Gambhir and Binny. Hopefully those 4 never play another test again. Vilander, sandeep, Masquerade and 2 others 5

This can work really well for us overseas, even though Jadeja and Jayant might not play overseas. tweaker 1
MCcricket Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 Still think M Pandey could be useful in tests, m not too sure about K Nairs game, it's not as technically sound or Orthodox. tweaker 1

Yeah, I like Pandey too but I think Pandey will have to sit out for a shile now, because Nair scored way too many runs lol. May ne this knock of 300 make him a better batsman than whst he is. But we have to remember that these guys also scored plenty of runs in Ranji and that is why they are here ahead of many others.
fineleg Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 (edited) In our home conditions - yes. In NZ, Eng, SA - remains to be seen how Karun Nair, Rahul and Jayant Yadav/Ashwin (lower order batting) can do. Jadeja is walking wicket in those conditions Edited December 19, 2016 by fineleg tweaker and vamos_rafa 1 1

ShebbySB Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 For tests in India and SC Rahul Vijay Pujara Kohli Rahane Parthiv Ashwin Jadeja Jayant Umesh Shami Reserves:- Mukund,Nair,Saha,Hardik,Kuldeep,Ishant,BK. Plus guys like Pandey,Pant,Aaron,Shardul are also around.Things look bright for now. Real test awaits us when we tour outside the SC.This is my team outside SC:- Rahul Vijay Pujara Kohli Rahane Nair Parthiv Ashwin Umesh Shami Ishant Reserves:- Mukund,Saha,Hardik(should come in place of a batsman if we play with 5 bowlers),BK,Aaron/Shardul, Jayant/Jadeja. We also need to groom bowlers like Nathu,Rajpoot for away tours. tweaker and Vilander 2

Nair's basic game is quite orthodox although not technically perfect. He plays some improvised shots along with that, like the reverse sweep and the upper-cut. Manish Pandey is a way more unorthodox batsman and I don't know whether he will give us a solid option in test matches....it is not as if he plays at a SR of a Sehwag. Some pluses of Karun Nair's game as displayed in his innings of 303 n.o He watched the ball carefully He left a lot of deliveries outside the off-stump, especially against pacers, and that is half the battle won. He went to the line of the ball while playing most deliveries and did not play away from his body. Was reasonably good at swaying away from bouncers on his off or middle-stump Has a good defense and a good straight bat game. Can play strokes all around the wicket and can use power when needed He placed the ball really, really well. Timed the ball sweetly Can cut and pull. Wants to play big knocks and does not give up after scoring a 100 Played very fast while playing a lot of proper cricketing shots and without taking too many risks...albeit on the flatest of flat pitches. Weaknesses as displayed in his 303 Does not have a prominent back and across movement while playing seamers and this may cause issues while playing on fast or bouncy pitches....maybe even when there is too much swing. He failed on the A tour to Australia. Sometimes he played a loose shot suddenly, in the middle of a solidly played over. Tries too many improvised shots against spinners and looks fidgety at times. This may stem from his confidence against spinners. Too many reverse sweeps may land him in trouble. Sometimes raises the bat like a periscope while leaving bouncers. Defended the ball with hard hands on many occasions, with fielders close-by. Edited December 20, 2016 by express bowling tweaker, Cricketics and Mosher 3
