tweaker Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 I like this new concept of "injured". Many good players have made debut after some player chosen in the squad gets injured. I think next injured maybe Umesh Bleed-Blue 1

I don't think so....with the ball doesn't seem a world beater. Our bowling which is our achilles heel would welcome another strike bowler..be it one of the fast bowling prospects or likes of Kuldeep Yadav. Look jy was excellent with ball as well . Ask stokes !! Takes mental strength to be 3rd bowler and only bowl a bit but come on and deliver jy delivered with ball bat and fielding against top quality team . How on earth he can be dropped is beyond me . Seems sensible that 3rd spinner who only bowls a few overs is also good bat team compisition is important and jy perfectly balances it I assume Kuldeep tore through Bangladesh in A Game ?

Don't need JY's batting. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if Sir tons up against BD, unlikely that he will get a chance though. Er jy also bowled really well . On bowing alone hard to make a case to drop him

You may be right . Like other wrist spinners at moment Tahir and mishra great in odis when being Attacked . But in tests suck gonna take a special wrist spinner to do it in tests. Not been a great wrist spinner in tests for looong time . cam Kuldeep buck the trend and be special ? ps who was last successful wrist spinner in tests ?

Far fetched but I don't think Mishra looked that injured after one of the heroic fielding of his career.

Danish Kaneria to some extent and MacGill before him. Paul Adams was the last Chinaman who did Okay in Tests.
express bowling Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 Good to see Kuldeep in the squad Very little chance of him playing though

That long ago !!! can Kuldeep be special and buck a decade long drought for a great wrist spinner

Not to knock JY's efforts - very mature and effective in the England series. Definitely a quality player. But its all about Match-ups and putting your best balanced XI out there. Ask yourself this - who would BD prefer to face when batting? JY's off-spin or Kuldeep? We already know that we don't need the extra batting depth against BD. And as a bonus, we get to ease Kuldeep into test cricket, we may need him as early as the Aus series. No harm in putting him in the mix now.

With ashwin has high as 6 and Saha not exactly gun . Even against Bangladesh jy coming in to score some runs could make the difference

Heck, they might play 2 pure bowlers and another allrounder with Shaqib. That's how they play test matches when they are trying to draw. You pick the better bowling option for that 5th bowler, hands down. Besides, Golu Kuldeep isn't exactly a mug with the bat either. Also, don't forget the Bhuvi. He's a handy batsman in test cricket. Texan Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 Would be good to see him play a Test after so much build up. My XI would be: Vijay Rahul Pujara Kohli Rahane Ashwin Saha Jadeja Kuldeep / Jayant Bhuvneshwar Ishant

I look at him as the next great legspinner in world cricket. He has the temperament and the skill-set. He will go further than Kuldeep IMO - have said it before as well. That's not to say Kuldeep isn't good. I personally believe JY should be benched for Kuldeep in this one-off test. BD batsmen will handle JY's bowling better than the English - Kuldeep is the better option for this match. Let's see how VK handles this call. 27 FC games 70 wickets at 33.

Has an action like Kumble, sharper turn, and a more than handy bat to be deemed an all rounder. And a vastly superior FC record. I am not bowling specialist but gopal looks more like a part-time spinner

vishalvirsingh Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 Kuldeep will suceed in tests on Indian pitches and I guess he will be played ahead of Jayant.
