Look jy was excellent with ball as well . Ask stokes !! Takes mental strength to be 3rd bowler and only bowl a bit but come on and deliver 

 

jy delivered with ball bat and fielding against top quality team . How on earth he can be dropped is beyond me . Seems sensible that 3rd spinner who only bowls a few overs is also good bat 

 

team compisition is important and jy perfectly balances it

Far fetched but I don't think Mishra looked that injured after one of the heroic fielding of his career.

Difference between bowling one-dimensional off-spin to England batsmen vs BD.    Not to knock JY's efforts - very mature and effective in the England series.  Definitely a quality player.  But its all about Match-ups and putting your best balanced XI out there.  Ask yourself this - who would BD prefer to face when batting?  JY's off-spin or Kuldeep?  We already know that we don't need the extra batting depth against BD.  

 

And as a bonus, we get to ease Kuldeep into test cricket, we may need him as early as the Aus series.  No harm in putting him in the mix now.

Never say never . With ashwin has high as 6 and Saha not exactly gun . Even against Bangladesh jy coming in to score some runs could make the difference

Dude, the toygers will play with 3 bowlers and Shaqib.  Heck, they might play 2 pure bowlers and another allrounder with Shaqib.  That's how they play test matches when they are trying to draw.  You pick the better bowling option for that 5th bowler, hands down.  Besides, Golu Kuldeep isn't exactly a mug with the bat either.

 

Also, don't forget the Bhuvi.  He's a handy batsman in test cricket.

That's not to say Kuldeep isn't good.  I personally believe JY should be benched for Kuldeep in this one-off test.  BD batsmen will handle JY's bowling better than the English - Kuldeep is the better option for this match.  Let's see how VK handles this call.

Samar Quadri from Jharkhand is the 2nd best, not Chahal.

Going by the selections in the last test series ( or even the last 3 test series ),  Bhuvi is not expected to play unless conditions are expected to aid swing over multiple days.

 

Umesh and Ishant, who played in the last test, will probably be the 2 pacers.
