Azhar Ali has quit as Pakistan's ODI captain, in the wake of mounting pressure on his leadership following the 4-1 defeat in Australia. Wicketkeeper Sarfraz Ahmed, who is the T20I captain, will take over from Azhar in one-day internationals.

"Azhar agreed to relinquish his captaincy as he believed that his batting is being effected due to extra burden of leadership," PCB chairman Shaharyar Khan

I think a good decision, Sarfraz already has shown himself as some captaincy material... Azhar Ali infact struggling even to be a permanent member of ODI squad, however after Misbah, I thinkn he can/will lead Pak Test team (well, if his poor ODI captaincy record do not become a hurdle)

Sarfraz has been benefiting a lot from baseless hype, simply because he wasn't captain.  His batting too isn't all that.  He's not really that good of a boundary hitter, good at hustling ones and twos.  But there is the TINA factor in his favor.

Watch now how Azhar Ali will be dropped soon by PCB after few games or in fact he might not even feature in odi for Pakistan any more. Not that he is a great ODI player who deserves selection, but Pakistan needs one player at this time who can hold one end till they find someone as decent as even India's Rahane in ODI's, who can walk into most LOI batting line ups barring India's.

Sarfraz has done reasonably well for the Quetta Gladiators. I think this a very fine decision, His dot ball percentage while batting is low and doesn't let the pressure build up by manipulating fields and taking ones and twos, Also top run scorer in limited overs last year.

Watch him crumble under the pressure of captaincy.  He already is a bit of a fumbler behind the stumps, and can hardly hit the big shots.  Few more ODI losses where Pak batting fails to kick on, and the spotlight will be on Sarfraz.
